We do not dry camp without hookups. At least we have not done this yet. I try to run the generator often when we are on the road. Everything I read says underuse is the biggest problem so we try to do at least 5 or 10 hours a month.
Good Luck.

Hal, you're doing all the right things to keep your generator healthy. And you're right that under-use is not your friend when it comes to diesel generators.

When the MH was built, or any of the large components such as the generator. They will have a "build" date. That date is sometimes important when ordering a part, or a recall may be issued by "build" dates.

Turns out our gen was also low on coolant even though the bottle showed coolant. I checked and tested the sensor and it was good but when I removed it there was no coolant leak at all from the sensor hole. I added coolant until it started running out the sensor hole, replaced the sensor. Started it up and it has been running fine since then.
About this loose clamp, can you tell me where it is so I can check and tighten it or I will get the problem again if it is slowly leaking, which it probably is since I didn't find a leak

Yes, talking about an undefined or unpictured "clamp" does not move most of us forward in our understanding. Can someone provide a picture or describe in detail where it is located, its color, and what function it performs.........
