Rob, although I'm not anticipating a Starlink installation on my coach, I greatly appreciate your sharing of how you routed the Cat5 cable. Your ingenuity is impressive and provides useful strategies for others to run cables, regardless of purpose.
Thanks.
Take care,
Stu

Stu, thanks. I also use that same CAT5 for a COX router that I use in the summer, it also sits in the AH bay. The COX service is 1/3 that of Starlink ($50) and much more consistent (120mbps down 20mbps up). It can be paused without penalty.
Honestly I'm not all that enthralled with Starlink, especially at $150/mo (major bourbon budget buster). I only got it for our 2+ month stay at a spot in NW AZ where there was no chance of a cell signal. It was reliable, but not as fast or convenient as other options in good coverage areas. I am on the Starlink RV plan which has no priority (so spotty performance), but, the service can be paused, which it has been since Feb. I will keep the equipment for possible future use, but as of right now don't have any plan to un-pause the service.

Thanks very much for the comments immediately above about your experience with StarLink. First, my experience over the years is that you are one of those people what if you say something about anything electronic, I accept it as gospel and I don't think I have ever started on a project that you have commented on or provided directions about that I ever regretted starting (and thinking, that damn Voltdoc doesn't know what the heck he is talking about!). So, for all the things I have followed from you that were exactly right, THANK YOU for your input and participation.
Second, I have had serious concerns about StarLink. In many way, it just doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to me as the "answer". How such a system is going to be the "Answer" for the entire world is completely beyond my ability to believe, so my own approach has been to let the "early adopters" adopt and then write about their experiences and maybe in a year or two or three, I might feel enough knowledge has accrued to justify me considering Starlink as a possible solution. I'm nowhere near that point at this time. My sat-based Direct TV system is reliable enough (if I can remember not to park under a tree) that I have no urgent need to find an alternative. I think the group of people depending on sat tv is dwindling every year as more and more people head to on-line based TV or Starlink. I also resent paying ~ $200 every month for 200 channels of Direct TV where I actually watch or care about 5 or 6 of those channels, and the other 195 are complete garbage clogging the ether. Good grief.... what mindless crap on those 195 channels!
However, the weaknesses of a system that I have a lot of experience with versus the weaknesses of a system that doesn't make a lot of sense and I have serious doubts can support the needs of those who adopt it, has kept me out of the market. I'll read 50 more reviews before I spend the money.
Again, thanks for your observations Rob.

Gary, thanks for the kind words. Likewise I have learned much from your prolific posting so I suppose we are even!
As for Starlink, I'm not knocking it, just saying it isn't for me right now because of it's cost and my current situation. But it definitely has its place when there are no other options, and it will remain a part of our connectivity arsenal for internet access (but not necessarily entertainment) . Being able to pause it with no fees is a significant benefit. Musk himself has stated that Starlink is not intended to be a replacement for 5G or fiber.
Streaming isn't our primary "entertainment resource" (although we do use it) but even if it was, Starlink is a hard sell for me, again mainly due to its monthly cost. Our DISH service is around $85/mo, so it still beats going 100% streaming with Starlink and has other benefits. Plus having both technologies adds a great deal of redundancy.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out down the road, especially when Starlink's competition starts to come online.

Good info for sure
Realize this is an older post, interested in the actuator you used for the Dishy. My Musk box arrived today and I was contemplating a pole mount on the enclosed trailer we haul the Jeepin in and a trailer hitch mount when were snow camping. Pushing a button seems like a lot mo betta
