3 position sliding switch above bed
2014 Entegra Anthem 42 DLQ
While feeling pretty foolish for having to ask I have to reach out here to learn what the three position black sliding switch above the bed is for?

Do you have a Fan over the bed? In my 2017 I have a 3 position for the fan. That is the only control for the fan. If you have fan that the doesn't operate with that switch, check your fuses.

Hi Clay,
I actually did think of that, but the switch as no effect on the fan.
We do have a fan above the bed. The only way we can operate it is by pulling the chain, 3 speeds and off.
The switch above the bed does nothing. Unless I am deliberate when moving from position one to position two I can in fact hear a slight electrical arc, so I know there is juice there

On my coach that switch controls the bedroom ceiling fan. My fan does not have a pull chain. The switch provides off plus a high and low speed.
Perhaps a previous owner replaced the fan with a different model and the switch above the bed was disabled? Try putting the fan in the highest speed via the pull chain and see if the overhead switch has any effect.

Same for me. My 17 and 22 both have had that switch and it controls the fan.
That is the only way to control the fan in my coaches. I don’t really like the fan on after we get up and if we forget to turn it off the only way to turn it off is that switch. The switch is in a great place when laying in the bed but when you are not in bed it is not the best location.
I am 6’ 1’’ and with shoes on I feel like the fan is too close to my head when on. Because it is.
Hard to imagine a previous owner changed the fan out and bypassed that switch. But possible.

The switch may have failed in the closed position, which still delivers power to the fan's secondary switch.

If your classic has the fan chain, you can vary the fan speed by which setting it is on, using the one overhead.
Think of it like a bicycle: three large pedal gears and six smaller wheel gears. In the fans case; high/low with three settings overhead.
It’s really nice to slow the fan down at night so it’s not drafty.

I have been thinking about your post RVFunlovers. Your explanation makes sense if the switch failed in the closed top speed position. That may have caused a previous owner to replace the fan to one with a pull chain.
Did the original ceiling fan on the classics have the pull chain as well as the switch? That also might tell me if the fan was changed or not.
I am assuming the sliding switch must actually have some type of potentiometer in it. If so, regardless of whether the fan was changed or not and after I replace the switch I should be able to leave the pull chain in the top speed position and thereafter control the speed with the sliding switch above the bed.
I guess the first step is to check the switch to see if it failed in the closed position.

Sounds like you are on the right track. If you want the ability to turn the fan off / on and adjust speed when laying in bed then a new switch might do the trick while leaving the chain in the full on position.
The fan switch in my master bedroom at home died. It failed open. It was the type of switch that slid to adjust the fan speed. Overall an easy fix. The light is wired on a separate switch.
Good Luck.

My late 2014 Anthem has the pull chain as well as the sliding switch above the bed.

Thanks for this Don.
Now that I have learned that some coaches came with a bedroom fan with pull chain AND sliding switch I will order a new switch. I insist on keeping this coach "as new" with everything working as designed.
