50 Amp Extension Cord

Hello to all and thank you in advance!

What do you recommend as far as length for an extension cord?

We are busy gathering stuff as our coach is officially on it's way to NIRVC!

So far I have not needed one for the Entegra. I have a 30 amp extension cord I picked up years ago and have never used it. However it is easy to carry if I ever need one.

I have a 10 foot 50 amp extension cord but have never had to use it at a campground. Just had to use it at our office in Alabama when we were there. They are expensive, so unless you know specifically somewhere you will need that extended length ... I'd hold off purchasing one. JMHO

I carry a 50' 50Amp extension cord. There's times I want to park to have a great view, and don't want to be restricted by cord length.

I have either 25 or 30 ft. Used it once, but like a lot of things you don't need it until you do. I believe on Amazon it was $105, but I've had it for 3-4 years. They are certainly heavy. Mine came with a Velcro strap with handle. Noel

I have a 40' 50 amp extension cord, but I have never used it. About the only time I could see using it is if you were with another RV'er and wanted to park opposite each other so you would be door to door. I got it for free otherwise I wouldn't have bought one.

A few years ago I uses two ext. cords a 25' and 30' for approx. 2 wks. I had to replace starting capacitor in both air conditioners. Other that starting cap. no other problems and both ac appear to be ok now. Was it caused by ext cords???

If there was a properly working Electric Engagement System (EMS) installed on the MH, it would not have let bad power from a faulty extension cord to reach the A/C's. Start capacitors go out from age, very normal.

In ~ 16 months, had one RV park with 50a box 6-7 feet behind rear of coach. Another SITUATION where box was right at tow bar hitch position and the built in power cord just made it. I would recommend you carry a short 25' spare cord. You may never need it until you do need it. Mine is 50A.

We have a 50' 50 amp cord. Too heavy to carry by myself but really come in handy at times.

I also carry a 50' 50amp, heavy but glad I have it. Used it this spring when site was flooded forcing me to park too far from pedestal. Used every bit of the length.
Last summer also could have used it at a campground with poorly placed pedestals. Forced me to park in and awkward way and still had to stretch my existing cord all the way out.

Bought a 50' 50amp cord via walmart.com. Couldn't find it cheaper.

I have a 20 ft. extension. Use it about once per year.
