I've never had to get outside to reset anything. My system will reset, when it is capable of resetting (there are times where it was so screwed-up that it could only be reset by a tech (when the WABCO system actually fails and throws a bunch of "codes" to the system)). I have been able to clear what can be cleared by shutting down the Cummins and turning off the salesman's switch inside the main door.

The Wabco OnGuardActive system is designed to shut down in the event an error is detected that includes both CMS and ACC. Unlike some, I like the ACC and don’t mind the distance it maintains. I also like the sensitivity of error detection such that if an unresolvable error occurs, it shuts down. A designed feature. If there is an error affecting CMS it will shut that down along with ACC. Keep in mind the same electronics use to monitor collision risk is maintaining safe distance while using Adaptive Cruise Control. The only option is to pull over in a safe location and shut down for at least 3 minutes. As the Wabco literature advises, that down time is a good opportunity to clear what’s interfering with the radar.

I don’t think you will be successful circumventing what is actually a safety feature. Focus on what is causing the CMS/ACC to shut down. It may be something as simple is position of the radar in the gen door window as was with ours

Gary, Never heard the Power Switch inside the door referred the “Salesman’s Switch”. Actually logical. I never had to go that far resetting the Wabco system, but did find the 3 minute wait before restarting the engine was essential.

Tom

That is a very common reference for that switch. When you and the salesman leave the coach after you get the hard sell, all the salesman has to do is hit That one switch and all the 12 volt lights and most is the -2 volt systems are turned off. That’s been around a long time and you’ll see that reference on here all the time

Gary.

I don’t think you will be successful circumventing something that is actually a safety feature. Best to focus on what is causing the system to error out. For me is was how the radar was not centered on the window.

Tom good point about the radar. Here in Key West, the Navy tests radar jamming material all the time which they call chaff. It is small pieces of foil like materiel released from planes to jam radar signals. It works as it show on our local news weather radar.

I can see where driving in heavy rain would jam the CMS radar just as chaff jams the weather radars. The CMS radar is doing what is designed to do, pick up signals. The heavier the rain, the stronger the signal.

Yep, rain obviously has a jamming quality. Before the first time our CMS was worked on a few bugs did it. Then the recall fix and it got worse. I think if I sneezed the CMS shut down. Second repair fixed the mounting bracket that was installed upside-down and it improved, but was very rain sensitive. Finally, it was centered in the plastic window and the CMS shutting down is now very rare.

Now all I have to worry about is truckers tossing aluminum chaff out their window.
