ACC Disabled

I thought I had posted about this but seems I didn’t.

Road Day 2 of our last trip, driving on misty, damp roads I suddenly got a message on the ACC to clear debris on the sensor and the ACC quit. Finally found a place to pull over, checked the front sensor which was very clean. Robin had the great idea to shutdown everything to see if it cleared with a “reboot” like many other gremlins in our coaches. Didn’t work. Called Entegra CS who connected me to Meritor. They said there may be a bad connection and found a Cummins service center along our route in Mobile to get it checked out. I called them, told them the issue and they said they didn’t work on cruise controls. After we got to our destination I called directly back to Meritor, told the tech everything we went though, he said the electronic communications string is so long it needs to be off at least 3-5 minutes to clear. Confirmation requires getting to over 30mph, I wasn’t going to break camp and drive several miles just to check since I couldn’t get it fixed anywhere in the area. When we left several days later the system worked as advertised and continued for the next 900 miles.

This is the screen warning we got:

5606 code is communications. The tech said something hiccoughed and their system reported an error.

Vance, I had that problem on mine and Entegra found the electrical harness hanging between the sensor and cover. Haven't had a problem since they secured the harness. Can't say for sure if that's going to fix the problem, but no problem in 1200 miles.

Thanks. It hasn’t come back since it cleared but I haven’t driven in any precipitation since then either. I plan to have my dealer check out all the connections next time the coach goes to them. Notice the count was 7.

We had the identical issue as you, with same screen on our way back from Quartzsite. We call OnGuard’s manufacturer, and she said it needed to be repaired and proceeded to give me several dealers names, numbers, etc. She also mentioned that this code was probably indicator of something else that this system monitors was at fault, and was causing this code. Well the next day it started working correctly and we now had cruise control again. It was only then that I noticed the red light behind the in dash generator switch had gone off. I forgot that we had noticed it glowing and couldn’t figure out how to stop it. BTW, we weren’t using generator and Vega touch Gen Switch was unlit. The gen started and stopped correctly, but light wouldn’t go out. I don’t know if there was an issue with the in dash generator switch, and it was tripping up the On Guard or not, but would surely like to?! When I spoke with ECS, they suggested turning main power switch on and off may have corrected Gen switch light, but it corrected itself before I had a chance. FYI, the OnGuard System in the CS carries a manufacturer’s 3 year parts and labor warranty!

What do you mean by “hanging down”? Our harness has two plugs, one is plugged in, and the other is just “hanging?” there? I sthi sthe part they secured? And if so, how was it secured?
