Greetings all,

I remember seeing a post on replacing the plastic access door where the smart drain hose is with stainless steel door.

I would like to do that to my door.

Any ideas or recommendations to where u can get this done?

I have a quote for 752.00, seems rather high.

I remember seeing a thread where the owner felt that the flimsy plastic lock mechanism on the Sanicon hose door with a stainless steel, metal one and I think that it may have locked also. I dont remember the stainless whole door mechanism, but that doesnt mean that thread did not exist.

There is the monsterous thread on Mods that everyone has made sometimes as a sticky.... it is sooooo long and involved that I stopped looking at it, but that may be the place you saw it. Use the search box (up near the top and enter ENTEGRA: stainless steel Sanicon door and see what you get. Also, if that doesn't work, then start free associating around your search terms and you will find it.

I'm very careful with mine.. My door is painted in all four major colors of the coach and it would undoubtedly cost me near $1,000 to replace it with new painted plastic.

I found this one on Amazon, but the inside diameter is only 4". Might work. Definitely cheaper!

I replaced the flimsy turn latch with a metal key latch to keep the door from flying open. Keep the key in the wet bay. And as Gary mentions you have to be very careful, even if you replace it with metal, of slamming your bay door on it. I ran into a guy who had done that...$650! Ouch. He only had three colors

If you are talking about the stainless latch mechanism, that is a fairly stock item... almost any RV place has them hanging in a blister pack on the wall. If you are talking about the whole door assembly, I am not nearly as optimistic.

Doesn’t sound like too bad a price for a well made piece. I don’t believe anyone else has done it.
Have you talked to summit products(rv stainless)? I know that they have had requests to do it. Don’t know if they did. I believe all the sewer drain doors are the same size so maybe you could talk them into making it a stock piece.

We asked Summit about it. They have not done it and indicated that they had not had that many requests for it. Maybe if everyone called....

I contacted Kelly Johnson at Summit again for upgrades re my 20. Asked again about the door, he indicated the request was in Engineering, he would follow up with them this week.
