ACs not coming on when running generator
We have a 2016 Anthem. About a week ago, my ACs would not come on when running generator. I checked for any blown fuse. They run fine when plugged into shore power. Any suggestions on what I need to troubleshoot?

While changing the oil on my generator yesterday, I notice my generator switch (circuit breaker) was in the off position. Check that on yours, it's on the very front of the generator. There was no reason mine should have been tripped, but it was.

On the classic models, take notice of your thermostat controller. If it doesn't seem like it is changing modes correctly reset your 12V system. I found out the hard way in July in Texas. Sometimes shifting from shore power will cause the controller to act up

This happened to us also. After checking the generator breaker, coach breaker, and all generator connections, I checked the transfer switch. The transfer switch was the culprit.
Remove the cover and check that the wires are still seated/connected properly in the lugs. One of my "hot" wires had vibrated loose and was not making a good connection.

Another possibility (which happened to me) is that the generator cables detached - so, the generator was running but not sending any power to the coach. That little gem was discovered by NIRVC at the Octoberfest '16 Rally in Las Vegas. Ever since then everything has been fine.

patallee, what did you find the problem to be? It might help someone else that has the same problem.

Love it. Resolution was the easiest one. Breaker on generator had tripped. Opened slide, flipped breaker, started generator (after turning off shore power) and turned on ACs. All appears to be working as intended. Thanks all. Love this forum. Great advice.

attention manufacturers: Urgent!
this is a need for all manufacturers to build into their coaches - the ability to KNOW if a generator breaker has tripped! This is one of the very common causes of owner's aggravations with trying to diagnose a loss of electricity. It should be much simpler to diagnose, and from within the coach.
hmmmm.... maybe Magnum should listen up. A simple alert or readout on the ME-RC or similar Inverter panel would be a great addition!

Same thing happened to me on a new boat. Anchored out breakfast cooking and getting ready to watch football when all of a sudden no generator power. You can look at that breaker all day but until you actually flip it back on you don't really notice it. Sort of like a GFI breaker but not as embarrassing.

Magnum has that on their panel now. If the generator is running and the ME-RC says inverting with a negative number beside the amp readout then AC power is not getting through. It is most likely the breaker tripped or a transfer switch that did not transfer from shore power.

Good to know. I do recall both inverters displayed "Inverting...."
