Air Doubler question

Hi. I am going to install an air doubler soon and am just wondering about something that some of you who have been through this might know In reading through various posts I see that the air coming out is twice the p.s.i. of the air coming in. Makes sense but does this cause the need for a stronger than normal air hose?

The doubler (at least the SMC one) has an adjustable regulator on it so you are able to set whatever PSI/Bar you'd like up to double the incoming pressure. As for the hose, my reel is rated at 300psi and I have no issues staying under that and inflating the tires easily. FWIW, I do not leave the reel connected to the coach unless I'm actively using it. That means there is no continual pressure on the hose and just in case one of my connections is leaking it isn't bleeding down the coach pressure either.

This is overkill...but you can assemble it like mine.

I have a unit I purchased off eBay...which has the following added parts,

On/Off valve
Input regulator
Output Tee with quick connect and overpressure relief valve
Exhaust muffler
Small input side pressure guage

Kinda like overkill, but that's the way it came...and works great!!!

I think some hoses have 300 psi ratings.

I regulate my input to around 80 psi to get 160 psi out...

I have been Motorhomeing for 16 years and for all of my motorhomes I have been just using the air compressor on the engine. I just increase the set point for the compressor cut off to 145 psi. I have discussed this with Spartan and they also say that the higher pressure is better for air level if your rig is equipped with that. The best part is that it is easy and free.

When the air doubler is working, it makes a lot of noise. I thought it was broken the first time I used it.....

Van, do you have the muffler on it? Mine is pretty quiet. Example only https://www.grainger.com/category/ecatalog/N-/Ntt-pneumatic+air+muffler

One also shown in post #5 at the top of the doubler.

Agreed, pretty quiet with the muffler. Even more so when the bay door is closed over as well.
