Air Hose connections
Would like to know what connections/parts that I need to buy so that I can use the air chuck in the basement of the coach to fill the tires. I saw a thread about the problems of having enough pressure to fill the front tires but I'm not that far along yet!
Thank you
Steve

Go to the guys toy shop, Lowe's, Home Depot, and buy any hose length you want. They use a universal fit. The hose will have a male connection on one end and another chuck on the other, add any air fill end that works for your tires.

I already have a 50 ft rubber air hose but it's 3/8". Can I make that work?

Yes, all you have to do is buy the appropriate sized couplers.

I should work fine IF you can get enough pressure and volume.

Go to RVGeeks.com and you will find how to make a guage to moniter coach air pressure. If you try to fill the tire and the air is low in the coach (90lbs) then you will potentially let air out of the tire. With a proper guage setup you can tell when the coach compressor is over 120 lbs and you can fill a tire. Put the coach on cruise and hit resume and the idle will go to about 1,000 rpms and it will cycle the compressor faster. You may have to have DW hit the brakes a few times to cycle the compressor.

A 3/8 hose actually should work better than a 1/4. The advise to go to RV Geeks is good. Depending on pressure requirements, you may need to add air a little at a time until the pressure drops, shut off the valve, and wait for the system to build pressure. Part of the problem of having tires that need pressure slightly lower than the supply Max.

Tapping the air brakes is a good suggestion. You need the compressor to build up pressure so that you air up the tires. Takes a couple of cycles, this is procedure we use to insure our tires are at correct pressure.

If you use the basement air to fill your tires you must keep the coach on to keep the pressure up...is that right?

Yes, the air tanks on the coach are not large enough to fill the tires. If the compressor stops filling the tire, tap the brake a copule of times while the engine is running.

Harbor Freight has good prices on hose and fittings , too.. Mostly , automotive and industrial will use a " M" fitting /coupler . If your hose came with a universal fitting that solved a problem.. You can use either 3/8 or 1/4 hose ..
