Alignment Issue

As many Entegra Owner‘s know, Josam in Orlando is famous for their great alignment jobs. I went there today with my ‘21 Anthem because my tires showed uneven wear on my long trip, especially the tag tires, even though the coach was driving fine. The resulting alignment was good but it was bad that alignment was so far off. The tag and steer tires were aimed in opposite directions and the right steer tire was far off. The alignment was so bad the folks at Josam said that they are seeing many problems with Spartan chassis and they wonder if Spartan has an equipment problem. The coach was driving fine so the only sign of an alignment problem was the uneven wear. So check your tire wear even if your coach is driving fine.

I also had Koni shocks installed because I’ve heard so many good things about them being better than the standard Bilstein. It is too early to tell for sure but so far it seems that the Konis are giving a softer ride over the bumps and bad pavement transitions.

Jerry, I experience the same thing alignment wise on the 19 and the 21. On both coaches the tag axle was off 1 inch on the 19, and 3/4 of an inch one the 21. I had both of my coaches aligned as soon as arriving home so I did not suffer any tire wear. But alignments have been a problem on both of the new coaches.

I had similar setup from factory as Jerry even though MH drove fine. I had an alignment done in Eugene Oregon at Henderson Lineup. They also changed shocks to Koni’s. Ride was greatly improved, with porpoising being the main reason I had them changed. Henderson did a great job.

Josam's in Orlando is great. My Tag Axle was off, camber and toe off and ride height needed adjustment.

If you don’t mind, roughly how much was Josam’s for the alignment? Looking to make an appt. for our ‘17 Insignia.

$350 on up depending what is required and time. The Cornerstone with the new EZ steer was $750 but it required all 3 axles to be aligned and covered under warranty as it left the factory that way.

I had had mine done in central Illinois for $150 on my classic. They had to find the specs under “fire truck” on their computer. With the new alignment, tires and centramatic balancers, the coach rides great.

Great price Dave. That is the difference between a truck shop and a shop that has an RV market.

Glad you mentioned that about the specs. Unless a shop does MH's all day they will need the specs. They are on the Spartan CD for the Classics and the thumb drive for the newer coaches. The EZ steer was brand new on the 21's, Florida Spring and Axle did not have the specs yet. Getting them from Spartan could take all day the shop told me. I had my thumb drive in the coach that thankfully had the EZ steer specs.

Josam's also did mine last year uncovering a loose steering box and broken shock mount. They are tru pros there.

I plan to stop in again this year for a chassis inspection and alignment check. I noticed the tag tires are scrubbing the outer edge a bit.

I also have my chassis inspection done at Florida Spring and Axle. I have been using them since 2003, they have been excellent. Much closer than Spartan and every bit as good. Josam's is also excellent, I would put my trust in any shop as good as they are.

If you're in the middle of the country, look at Perry Legend in Columbia, MO. Excellent work at reasonable prices.
