Also check your bay doors attachment bolts!

While doing preventative maintenance today I discovered four bay door attachment bolts that had sheared. Hopefully the trip to Home Depot and Lowes will have what I will need to replace the sheared bolts. I plan to carry a few spare bolts just in case.

I had most of the self drilled screws that hold the gas struts brackets on snap the heads off. Removed all the one that didn't and drilled broken ones out and ran a 1/4 tap through the holes and put good 1/4 bolts in them. Good to do when you have a chance, they have cheap screws in them. Couple of my gas struts came completely off the doors.

I have had a few gas strut shock bolts pop off at the head also.

I had a couple shear off on my strike plat.I replaced them with stainless steel and now I keep them all lubed with a little WD, to slow down further corrosion

I think it holds true for many of the air guns screws used in construction from the fender bolts on up. Good heads up that the door plates are another area to check annually.

Problem is, it's not the screws, it's the nuts behind the air guns putting them on. Small screws small torque....

Looks EXACTLY like mine! Over-tightened to the point of shearing or ALMOST shearing off the heads! I went with slightly bigger self-tapping screws and they will NOT break again (there are even extra holes for MORE screws if you are an overkill kinda guy!)...

I brought this issue up at the mothership, regarding my 16 Anthem. PJ said they changed the tools used to install to a better calibrated air tool.
