Mike, having inflicted similar damage to two different motorhomes, my advice is “Don’t take pictures.” That way, after a sufficient passage of time, you’ll remember it as a small scratch or two rather than a larger number of rather significant scrapes.

In the first instance, I had good excuses. It was our first motorhome, I had pretty much zero experience, and it was a gas coach with a LOT of overhang behind the rear tires. The guys at the selling dealership warned me about the rear overhang and advised hugging the inside of any given turn. I did that so well I scraped the driver’s side of the coach making a left turn out of our own driveway. Go figure.

The second incident was considerably more embarrassing, in that we had sold the coach, paperwork had been done, payment received, insurance canceled, etc. The people who bought it weren’t going anywhere right away and asked if they could delay picking it up for a couple of weeks. Being the nice guy I am (or at least claim to be), I said sure.

As the turnover date drew near, I noticed the fuel tank was only about half full. I decided to be an even nicer guy and fill it up for them. (You know where this is going, right?) Drove very carefully (remember, no insurance) to a large gas station only a few miles from our house – one we’ve used to fuel our motorhomes for years.

When I arrived the place was a bit crowded, but the row of pumps I always use was open. I had to make a relatively tight turn to pull alongside that familiar row of pumps, but having done it dozens of times I knew I could do it in my sleep. Apparently I did exactly that, because I clipped a vertical post with the tail end of the coach on the passenger side.

So I got to drive it to a local body shop, pay them to make it all better, and drive it back home, all with no insurance. Yeah, I thought about reinstating the insurance, but I wasn’t going to file a claim anyway and wasn’t really in the mood to answer any questions regarding why I needed a reinstatement.

Short version – Been there, done that, feel your pain. If you’re blessed with a long life, you’ll reach a point where you can laugh about it.

Building memories......this is where you pour another drink and laugh. Some people in this world have real problems. This is just a little bruise on the ego.

Schtuff happens. Don't beat yourself up over things that can be repaired.
It's just a little bondo and paint, and a slightly bruised ego. We've all been there, done that.

Had a couple of cold ones last summer with a neighbour in a King Aire, who had just destroyed a bay door, and the fender ahead of the drive tire on the passenger side.
Couldn't believe how well he was taking it.

After some rubbing compound and elbow grease, got most of the white stuff off. Small dent in the bay door and the tailpipe. This is what happens when you rush and don't wait for the DW to help back around a corner. Also didn't help that the white posts jumped behind me when I wasn't looking. That looks a hundred times better. Good to know what is possible. Thanks for sharing.

That little dent just adds some more character to that beautiful Entegra.
