Hey Cutch,

After replacing my air cleaner with an ECOLITE P/N: 62891-001 paper element today, my forearms look like I've been wrestling with a badger. Not the easiest thing to wrestle the old air cleaner out.

So, that leads to a question about your K&N servicing: Is it possible to remove the filter element for cleaning without having to detach the case from either, or both, of the flange connections? It looks to me that it might be possible to unscrew the wing nut, remove the top of the case and pull the filter element out without disturbing either of the flange connections.

IF that's true, that would greatly simplify the process.

Hi Chuck,

That's what I'm thinking.

The cost would be about a "wash", it seems. The K&N is about 3X as expensive with a 3 year life.

HOWEVER, if it IS possible to just spin a wing nut to pop the case open and pull out the washable element for cleaning, that would be huge.

Hoping for a reply from Cutch to confirm.

Thanks for the very useful information Stu! I had a K&N in a 2001 Ram 3500 with the Cummings in it. It was a noticeable difference when I opted for the K&N back then. Anything that helps my coach breathe clean air easier is worth trying.
