Anthem lithium ion

Hey all,

Getting ready for our summer two weeks of boondocking and thinking I should probably upgrade the house batteries.

What lithium ion setups have you all had good results with on an Anthem?

Depends on the year of the coach. Newer coaches with Vega Touch do not have the settings to recharge the batteries. It really helps to have a signature line with the year and model of coaches in question.

I went with lithionics, 2x315aH batteries, you will need to verify your inverter can do cc/cv charging ( constant current / constant voltage ). One you determined that you need to verify that you have an updated me-rv 50 or me-arc50. You will also need to change the BIM ( battery isolation manager) to the li-BIM. It all works well together once you programmed the inverter. You can also add the magnum bmk ( battery monitor kit ) to get true State of Charge.

I installed 3 X 280ah batteries from Sun Fun Kits in my 2015 Anthem. I really like their products, Innovative design and fully serviceable. I also upgraded the DC distribution system with Victron Energy products. Works great and we boondock a lot and now we can with very little worries and can easily go 24 hours on a charge.

RV Wheeler, can you take some pics of your batteries with the trays extended? Like your setup a lot.

What exactly would you like to see or know? I’d be happy to help.

Hi all

Just another one of my questions out of ignorance-
The opening post states this is for his “two weeks of boondocking”. Would it not be less expensive just to run the generator rather than stepping up to a new lithium system?

Best

Dr. Mike

For me it would, 2 hour of generator in the morning, 2 hours at night. That's about 3 gallons of diesel at max load.= $15. per day, X 14 days = $210. That is a long way from the cost of upgrading to Lithium batteries.

Your guys' math is completely correct.

I think these are the original batteries and they are starting to show their age. I think the math changes when you decide to replace the existing or put that money in to a lithium setup.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Lithium for the user that will get the advantage of the cost of Lithium. Don, one of the experts here, Boondocks for several months at a time, a previous form member spends his weekends at a race track with no hookups two weekends a month. For them well worth the expenses, me, a Walmart here and there and a National Forrest with no hookups a few years ago. For me the best AGM's will fill my needs perfectly. Plus, AGM's are plug and play with no modifications.

If you are going to boondock on a regular basis then lithium is the way to go. The best batteries are LiFeBlue 300 amp hour. They are the only lithium batteries that have an app that will show your actual state of charge, amps being used etc. These batteries will last you the life of the coach.

We have 1200 amp hours and 4400 watts of solar on our 2013 Anthem. We boondock 99% of the time and never have to run the generator. That’s important to us as we enjoy the piece and quiet.
