Anyone that has had their radiator replaced on an Anthem, did they have to take off the side shroud (with the fins) to replace it? I am getting mine done now at Masseys in Phoenix and they say it needs to come off.

I had mine done at Spartan and they took it out the bottom. The only trick is that you need enough clearance to get it out that way. They put the coach on lifts and lifted it so the cooling package cleared the coach. The other way I was told was to remove the side cover, but there are issues with that since the rear cap goes over the panel and getting them lined up going back in is difficult.

Seen it done both ways. When they took off the lower exterior skin, they did a good job putting it back together.

Lazy Days did mine and they removed the shroud. I don't like where the paint peeled off inside around the seal.

Well, looks like they are doing it with the side shroud removed. They are looking at leaving the charge air cooler in place and just replace the radiator portion. Hmmm.

Don:

I was told by Cummins Coach Care that they never replace the charge air cooler and that is returned to the Spartan factory..... they only replace the radiator itself. I know for sure they only replaced the radiator on my coach although Spartan routinely sends both in the package.

Check with Charlie at Spartan to make sure they will ship you just the radiator part. My understanding was that they ship the cooling pack as a unit, that includes the air charge cooler and the condenser.

They shipped both as a package. Looks like they will be splitting the new package and just put the new radiator in.

Can you talk them into doing the package? Seems like extra work for no gain in fact what are they gonna do with the rest?

They removed all of the trim to get mine out, chipped the paint on the strip that goes between the end cap and fins. They have to remove that to get to the bolts. They are covering the cost but now have to get that repaired.
