Shouldn't need an alignment as the unit attaches to the front axle and tie rod. Shouldn't have anything to change that would affect the alignment. Maybe some adjustment to get it centered properly though, but that should be rolled in the installation cost.

It's a great addition and really improves an already great handling coach. No big deal installing it and no alignment needed. I had one on my Phaeton and blew a front tire in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri and it helped to get pulled over safely.

About the rubber boot I looked also but don't see it. Maybe call them up and find out. I know they made them a few years back (5 or so) and offered them for sale. Maybe they changed the end design so it is not necessary anymore.

I purchased one in 1988 for my 36 foot Winnebago class A. Installed it myself. Made sure wheels are straight ahead, had to readjust a couple of times. The steering was a little tighter. Did have one experiance. Had just come off the Mtns. east of San Diego and west of El Centro. Was doing about 70 when the left front tire blew. It held me in my lane and came to a nice straight stop. By the way there was 2 bangs when the tire blew. One was the tire and the other was my A__ H___ slamming shut. Thought I was going to get the seat removed at a Hospital.

I won't quibble with your claims of handling improvement and am happy that you're happy with the Safe-T-Plus. But, the engineer in me demands that I question your assertion that "it helped to get pulled over safely." See, the problem is, you have know way of knowing if it did or didn't. Unless you've had other blowouts, under identical conditions, you can't possibly establish that kind of cause-effect relationship.
I'm not arguing that the Safe-T-Plus didn't help, I'm just saying we too often attribute effects to causes (or in this case equipment) where the facts in evidence just don't support such a statement.

f14av8r has a good point. You can't really know.
On my previous coach I installed a Blu-Ox Tru-steer, which is similar to Safe-T-Plus and makes similar claims about blowout safety. After a few years, the Tru-steer failed and was sent back to the factory for replacement. While it was off the coach, I had a sudden, explosive blowout of my right front tire. I was able to steer the coach to safety with minimal trouble, with no extra safety equipment installed.
So who can say if the safety claims are correct?

Well, THERE is your real argument for installing one! When it is on, you won't have a blowout. The moment you remove it, Murphy will strike!

We like it. The coach handled well before the installation, handles better now. Think they did re-align the coach after the installation. And we had it done at a Spartan authorized facility.

I spoke to Safe-T-Plus, and the distributor I purchased the 41-230 from, and both stated is was not necessary, but available. Since I will most likely not ravel or stay in freezing locations, I am going see how it goes without the boot. We are usually south of I-20/I10 in the winter months.
