Anyone taken I-65, US 31 to Entegra lately?

The last time I took that route, they both were under heavy construction with delays and bad road conditions. That was 5 years ago and I am hoping it might be better now.

I have to detour to NIRVC Nashiville from my intended route of NIRVC Atlanta and I-75 north. I have to be at Entegra on the 21st and need to be able to make good time from Nashville. TIA.

The Indiana state/ INDOT traffic website does not indicate any current road construction on those two routes after you are 50 miles North of Louisville.

Hi Chuck - Just don't take a route that puts you on US 20 east of Middlebury as that is a mess. (Your intended route doesn't do that so not an issue). The last time I came up US 31 north of Indy the road was much improved. Take it to US 20 and right out to Middlebury or US 6 to Nappanee and up to US 20 that way.

Thanks Tom, On Google Maps KY is showing a lot of construction on I-64. Last time I went that way it was a nightmare. At least they have moved east on 20 with the construction. Last time it was from South Bend almost to Middlebury. I figured 31 had to be finished by now, but if it's like I-10 in TX, it hasn't been finished in 33 years. and that is the truth.
Thanks for the encouraging report.

Hi - I assume that you mean I-65 , not 64 from Nashville. Haven't been in KY lately so don't know about road issues there. We came in from IL this time as I had to get some Spartan repairs done. Can say the US 31 north of Indy is very good now. Of course the part was over a week late from Spartan so we have to go back there after Entegra straightens us out with a months worth of issues. This will be a great coach when it is finished. ;>)

This is our first Entegra, out of 11 coaches, and so far Entegra has been great. Reminds me of the glory days at Tiffin as far as customer service. We should be back into the coach in about a week so I'll see if I can find you once we are back into the coach at the service center. Meantime we are being put up in Elkhart. Not the pretty garden spot that Middlebury is.

Tom,
You are correct, I-65, I am taking I-24 into Nashville and I-65 out to Indy. I am stopping at NIRVC for the Spartan TSB and recalls. Also my Dash AC quit, so hopefully going get that taken care of. It is not a charge issue as I have pressure, but no AC. Also have a drive axle seal leaking. Hopefully it can all be taken care of on the way up, or the remainder on the way home.
I am looking forward to meeting Bobby that has been so helpful on the forum.

Chuck, We recently went from Grand Rapids down to Indianapolis then on to Louisville. We were headed South but we saw no major issues. We did not stop in Middlebury but we were not far from it.

The highways were fairly clear and moving 70 plus.

After Louisville we headed back up to Cincinatti and then Columbus. We have been the route on down to Nashville a few months ago though with no issues.

Good Luck.

As a reminder when at Entegra, don’t park at the east end of parking area nearest 4 way stop. The yard mules start moving trailers about 4 am and that end of parking area gets more than their share of trucks accelerating from intersection. We are at Entegra now and busier than ever. Culvert replacement on way up to Rise and Roll. One lane traffic so it gets backed up.

Hey Chuck, made that run back in April, don't recall anything bad about it. Starting in Montgomery, we took 65 to Indy, 69 to Ft Wayne, 30 to Columbia City then 9 to 33 to 6 to 13 to Middlebury. From 9 onwards it's all backroads but it wasn't too bad, scenic though!

We hadn't been to Middlebury for a few years either. Aunt Karen's is closed, 41 Degrees North is closed, Yoders Popcorn has a big new place on the corner of 20 and 5 in Shipshewana. We discovered this trip yummy locally grown Wagyu burgers (frozen) at Yoders Meat & Cheese in Shipshewana, about $6/pound at the time. If you find yourself near Bremen, the Dutchmaid Eatery provided a fabulous breakfast.

Safe trip!
