Apparently Firefly needs an additional income stream!

Just logged onto my 2019 Cornerstone to turn off some lights that I leave on at night even though it is parked in my driveway, and this time, there was a banner that came up indicating that Firefly was going to start charging a subscription fee for the ability to log onto my coach and monitor/control aspects of my coach beginning in something like 30 to 90 days. I did not pay attention since I doubt that I am going to agree to whatever the fee is since I don't really need to access it when I can walk out to the coach and change it, but I have some good friends that do remote monitoring of their coach... Get ready to pay boys....

We must be really chewing up their bandwidth and servers a lot more than I ever thought. Maybe I will start charging Firefly a subscription for uploading all the data that they are still taking from how my coach is operating and how the system is running. It has been chewing up a whole bunch of my broadband monthly allocation uploading all that data to Firefly..... so maybe they will need to start reimbursing me for my bandwidth....

Wow, things must be tuff up in Indiana....

Gary

Gary

I'm quite sure that the banner I saw was not a hallucination....

I am talking about accessing your VegaTouch software from another state or via another internet path other than direct from inside the coach.

Ok, there is an update to the Vegatouch software. When you update the software you will get the banner. It is to inform you you have 90 days free service then it becomes a subscription service!

Yep, I got same thing as Gary. Remote connection through vegatouch cloud will be by subscription in 90 days. Still free until then.
I think that sucks! Give you a system you can actually use and then start charging you for using it,
Guess itís time we started calling Firefly.

That whole system is so prone to failure that I would gladly pay a reasonable fee to keep it running. I have had nothing but trouble with all my Firefly systems, especially the tank gauges and to a lesser extent the lighting controls.

They didnít say it would run better, just that you had to pay for it.😀😀

Is there really enough value in the app to make it worthwhile? Has anyone seen a significant value in being able to control your coach from a distance?
My Blink camera monitors my coach and gives me the temperature so I guess depending on the price, Iím probably out too.

I haven't received the banner yet, but it sounds like it's coming. I do use the app to monitor the battery charging on my coach. I have a lot of power outages from time to time at the hanger so it is nice not to have to do weekly trips to physically check.
JMO, it kind of a cheap shot to pay a monthly fee in addition to price of these coaches.

Yeah Chuck, that would be a good use. And I agree, I am more than a little annoyed at getting a petty up-charge from an Entegra supplier. I thought I already paid for this, Surprise!

I thought that the app had some diagnostics and could fix problems remotely. My mistake. I don't have the app so, sorry.

I need to understand how this works.

Is the coach talking to firefly and then your app is talking to your coach thru firefly servers when not in the exact wifi as the coach?

How does it work when you are in the coach?

Do you have to have internet access to talk to your coach when in your coach?

Can your app talk to the coach if you do not have internet access to your coach but your phone is connected to the coach wifi?

If youíre in the coach you can control anything using the coach WiFi from iPad/phone. Once you leave the coach WiFi range, probably 50 ft. You have to have another WiFi to connect to coach WiFi and you canít control slides or awnings.
