Those that do not own Entegra's have much different systems. Advise from Entegra owners and the owners manual will be correct more so than other brand and AH model owners.

Still not recommended as it is not GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and not to be used where it could contaminate potable water. Personally would not be scared of it but it would not be recommended because of the additives, but a lot cheaper. All JMHO

Swberry, I ordered direct from AquaHot a year or so ago and definitely didn't pay that price, but your picture is correct.

I got about 2 turns on the hose clamp screw on one of them and could see a little tell tale drip on the down side of the joint.
I suspect this is the issue as it must leak at a certain temperature and it travels down the pipe to a different low point location further back down the drivers side and then dripped on the gravel pad. It doesnt take much to wet the ground in that area.
Vibration or our colder temps maybe the reason for the clamp backing off but i feel better about topping the tank off now with my remaining 1/2 gal spare.
Maybe this will assist others.
Thanks for the help and comments.
Glad you found something up there to tighten Dave. I've been up in that area and you have to be a double jointed contortionist to reach some of those connections..!

Yes I did see that, but the less expensive one was out of stock. I guess they can reduce the price when they don't have any. [emoji85]

If I am not mistaken, the older HydroHot/Aquahot units actually used Automotive, Ethylene Glycol. Yikes!

I not worried about the lack of GRAS certification with the LowTox as:

1. If there were ever a catastrophic faiure with intermingling of cooant and water, I would know about it quickly.

2. I don't drink the tap water.

You point is well taken though.

Since the water in the system does evaporate at times the proper course of action is to add distilled water. Only with a refractometer can you know for sure which to add. By the way for anyone going to Quartzsite in January I will have an extra refractometer for cheap.

And look what I found yesterday. Thanks Chuck for the link on the hose. I was just wondering about the temperature rating on that hose? I'm sure it's good if you have been using it for awhile? Click image for larger version

It is important to keep an eye on the freeze protection for your Aqua-Hot boiler antifreeze. Not so much for the obvious - freeze protection - but to make sure it isn't too thick. If the water evaporates and leaves a heavier concentration of antifreeze you will most likely develop sticky check valves that won't allow the system to circulate through the heating zones. You don't want the mixture to get too thick in order to prevent that. A 50/50 mixture will deliver more than enough freeze protection and will keep the check valves free.
