Aqua-Hot Leak

Our Aqua-Hot works perfectly; however, it appears to be losing ~4 oz of fluid per week.

I pulled the cover, cleaned a grungy fluid mess off the floor under the burner, lifted the insulation sheet in the middle of the unit, and saw the right side insulation appeared to be a bit soaked with fluid.

After holding up the insulation sheet for a few minutes, a puddle of fluid leaked onto the clean floor from the back side of the unit (see pic - sorry, it should be rotated to the right).

Too late this PM to reach Aqua-Hot service - I'll try in the AM - but was wondering if anyone has had a similar leak (sorry - tried the search, but couldn't find).

Thanks,

BG

Professional help is available online for Free at:
Roger Berke: RV Hydronic Heater Repair - Home (RV Hydronic Heater Repair - Home)

Aqua-Hot and Hydro Hot are both made by the same company. Aqua-Hot is a newer version.

Yes - I registered earlier this PM; however, the site still won't allow me access - maybe tomorrow... Thanks,

BG

Aren't you still under warranty? I'd call Entegra first.

The expansion tank leaked on mine and the fluid followed the overflow hose down to the Aquahot unit. Check the hose and under the tank to see if you have the same issue. Best of luck.

Thanks for the notes.

I called Entegra CS earlier this AM, and they had me call the local Aqua-Hot repair service (mobile service - message in).

Regarding the expansion tank - I checked, and all is "dry" in that area. The leak appears to be coming from the mid-back side of the unit on the right side...

Thanks,

BG

Mine is leaking too, but it's from a hose going to the front/exchanger. Tried tightening the fitting and it's still leaking. Hopefully mine will be easier to fix than a leaking boiler!

Once I hear from the mobile repair company, I'll post an update on what's going on... Thanks,

my boiler leak was easy to fix- leave the motorhome, "two arms and a leg" at the shop and pick it up when its done

Just got mime back from the shop a few weeks ago, unfortunately I didn't pin the leak down till after I left so the shop trip was only $2,700. First time I've paid a shop to do stuff I usually do myself.

Quick update on our leak: took our coach to the AH area tech, and, as I suspected, there was no evident leak detected. They confirmed it appears the leak is originating under, or on the right side of the tank.

AH gave them a rather complicated pressure-test procedure they need to perform. Fortunately, we're not in a huge rush, so we'll leave our coach with them for testing and repair, regardless of what's necessary (replace tank, or...).

I'll update as I learn more. Thanks,

BG

Found the Leak

I spoke with our AH tech, and they found the leak - the rear cold-water inlet nipple.

They went through quite a process to find - even with AH's standard pressure test, the leak wasn't evident. However, the tech remembered I'd said it only leaked when hot, so they super-heated the tank, and voila, they located the very small leak.

This is evidently a very rare problem. JMO, but this might explain how our unit could pass AH's stringent tank testing procedure - I doubt they heat every tank during testing.

Now it's in AH's hands for review and decisioning what steps to take from here.

I'll continue to update.

[By the way, the service is being performed by "Mister RV Service" in Portland, TN, just north of Nashville. Seems to be a very competent repair station.]

Thanks,
BG
