ATC Question

When do you activate the ATC rocker switch or do you use ATC at all times?

I have it "on" all the time. It has activated two or three times since birth.

Never have turned it on. Never read the manual, but most people on here have advised only turning it on when in slippery conditions. If it always turned on, what is the use of an on-off switch?

With various opinions, I guess I should break out the manual and confuse myself further. By the way, is the ATC information within the Spartan Manual?

Yep, when all else fails, read the manual, and then published a detailed post here on our forum for all the rest of us who have never read the manual, and tried to really understand what it means....

Yes, it is, it's under ATC & ABS. It doesn't say whether to leave it on or off, only that it is used on slippery surfaces. I guess people can drive with it as they like. My new Chevy manual says to leave it off, but that is also a 4 WD.

Does your new Chevy PU have 4 WD, (four Wheel Drive), OR AWD, (All Wheel Drive)?
Thanks
Mel

ATC is automatic. It will default to being on all the time. If you manually activate the switch your are turning it off and a warning will briefly appear on the dash.

The only reason I could ever see to deactivate the ATC temporarily is if you needed to spin the tires, as in maybe trying to get out of mud or snow by rocking.

I have had it come on a few times when leaving stoplights when the road was wet and it was raining. It sounds a chime and flashes a warning for a second or two until the wheels regain traction - usually by me lifting my big foot.

Manually shifted (electronic) 4 WD. There are no AWD Chevy Colorado's.

Mark, are you saying the switch in the off position on the console (rear position), is the automatic position and the switch forward is off? If so i had it's use backwards.
