Auto Gen Functionality

Never let it be said there isn’t more to learn on these beasts. Had a couple power spikes, both knocked the Sine Wave inverters off. Turned both back on as I was trying to figure out what happened, BTW, no code on the Progressive EMS of a fault.

Then, while trying to set back to Auto Gen, kept getting a “ignition on-off” on the Command 30 screen. Later, checking the fuel level as we are using the AH heavily by turning the key to the start ready position to check fuel. Turned off, then figured I’d recheck the auto Gen and see if I could get it back on, now I know what the ignition on-off meant. Functionality now works.

Last, I learned that when you get something that causes the inverters to bounce off, you’re not going to know it immediately. I have a power outage device ordered, to install in a plug that will give me a warning similar to CO2 sensor when power is lost. If this had happened while asleep, I’d never known about the loss, the inverters off, batteries not charging...and BTW, while I have the loss of shore power auto Gen turned on on the Command 30, I’ve never experienced it to see if it works.

Very good point and heads up Dave. I have power outage all the time at my storage hanger. For a reason I have yet to figure out, 10% of the time the battery charger(s) do not come back on when power is restored. Like yours, sometime the Progressive has an E2 code, other times it does not.

Once the Auto Start is set (mine uses the ignition on/off check also), if you happen to turn on your ignition to check fuel levels, or air pressure, etc, it will cancel the auto start feature. Learned that once when we returned to a power outage, and the gen was not running.

Thanks for the heads up on the power spikes!

Knew that...evidently, once you’ve lost inverters (a reset or turn back on because of a power outage), you may have to cycle the on off key, then reset the auto Gen. the other piece, it maybe useful to buy a$25 power loss alarm, so you know you may have to turn you inverters back on.

Dave,

You will see that message every 30 days if the coach has not been moved or the ignition turned ON if you want to arm the Auto Gen feature. This is a built in safety feature to prevent the coach being parked inside a storage facility (or similar) with the auto gen still armed.

Thx...my bigger concern was the combination of the auto Gen being off and losing the inverters with the power spike/loss was the real issue.
