Auto Generator Start question
Hi all - I'm sure this had to have been covered but I couldn't locate it. We have a classic with the Command 30 Generator remote. I can't get it to switch to auto. I've set the time, quiet time and run time - when I push the button to switch to AUTO and push ENTER, the screen reverts back to Manual.
I've never used the AUTO function with this coach but I assume the PO did but not sure. The genset has almost 300 hours on it and I've probably put on at least 50 over the past couple years.
Any thoughts or troubleshooting thoughts I can work on please?
Thank you -
John

Someone with that set up will come along here soon and give you the definitive answer. I got rid of my EC30 based system 18 months ago so my recollection of it is fuzzy, but my memory is that you set the voltage for the AGS to start the genny (I used 12.1 or 12.2) and then the AGS position was simply turning the main (big) knob one more click clockwise or counterclockwise from the default position, and that put it into AGS...... I could be wrong but that is what I remember using the EC30.
Someone currently using the system will be able to tell you definitively. I used AGS frequently but the procedure now is a little hazy...

John,
Does the display say “Ignition ON/OFF” when you try to go auto? If so this is the safety interlock and must be satisfied every 30 days. Switch the key ON and then OFF.
If this is not your problem then try not setting quiet time and just set auto gen start. Once you push Auto Gen on the screen you should just have to push Enter.

Hi Don - thank you. When I get the ignition key on and off, I so that. But everything stays on "manual". This is something simple I know but haven't found it yet. I'll turn the quiet time inop. The coach is a couple miles from the house and I won't be able to get there this afternoon but will check that out tomorrow.
Thank you for the input
John

I had that very problem and no one could figure out the actual problem ....UNTIL I had an RV tech that really does seem to know "everything" look at the problem. It took him almost an hour, but it had to do with the fuse box under the front seat. He ended up taking it out and "cleaning" the contacts for the auto gen. At least that is somewhat what he told me! If you need his number to call him, just send me a PM and I'll give it to you. He will be happy to walk you through it, I'm sure.
BTW .. I had Entegra look at it, Spartan look at it ... all the schematics sent for the set up ... and even Cummins look at it and NO ONE could figure it out! I even bought a new Command and that didn't work! Thank goodness for our tech! Lynn

Lynn thanks. I'll check the fuse tomorrow - make we're not making a good circuit. It's happened before on this coach - - great advice.

OK - here's what it's doing. I have checked the fuses and there's only one fuse that listed as having anything to do with the AGS under the drivers seat. IT's a small 5 amp fuse - and it appears good to go. Also, I have noticed that each time I try to set up the autostart I'm asked to do the security authorization with the key on key off message. Does that mean that the security authorization is not registering? At any rate still "no joy".
Thoughts?

John,
It could be that your auto gen start on the EC-30 is set up under ignition ON then OFF but the motorhome may be wired differently or it is not sensing properly. It could be on the park brake or something else. You may have to check with Entegra on how they may have wired it for your year.
If it is on your ignition then push auto gen, (get the message for ignition ON then OFF) then cycle the ignition key ON then OFF then if it took you should be able to push enter.

Your security authorization may not be the ignition, on some gas coaches the mfg uses the emergency brake, light switch or foot brake. My suggestion would be the sit in the driver's seat, start the coach, step on the brakes, let the emergency brake off and turn the headlights on
This will cover all the bases. Keep in mind that taking the e brake off while the Jack's are down will cause them to come up. The idea behind the safety is to prevent you from parking in a building and having the auto gen set. Depending on how your coach is wired you may not be able to set the auto gen while plugged in to shore power. Once you do all of the above, shut everything down and try to set the auto start.

The EC30 auto gen feature was not wired on any Entgra before 2015.
