Awning 110 connection in basement

Does anyone know where the 110 volt connection in the basement is for the awnings. I had a problem with a previous coach awning extending while going down the road, so my fix was to unplug the cords while moving. We have a 2017 Cornerstone. Thanks for any help.

According to what someone else with a 2017 was saying they are no longer plugged into the basement area but are wired to an inverted upstairs inside curcuit. Which one I do not know.

Your awning runs on 110 volts???

Mine have always run on 12 volts.

They normally come with wind sensors and I suspect that's where your problem is located.

The first electric awning I had was installed by a dealer who told me they installed them all the time. Picked up my trailer, drove down the street and the awning deployed. Went back to the dealer....Oh this is the first we've installed, they had it wired wrong.

A few years later I had one installed on my current coach and specifically told them not to wire in the wind sensor as wind sensors have a mind of their own.

The controls for our Girard awnings run on 12 volts, but the actual motors are 110 volts.

The Entegras do not have wind sensors, they are motion sensors. Both, in my opinion are a "buy me" labels and worthless in real life situations. By the time they sense anything....it's too late.

After talking with Don at customer service this morning we found the awning motors are wired into the living room breaker on inverter # 1 so I will disable this breaker when we are moving to forestall any possibility that the awnings will come out while moving.

For Safety reasons, my awning (Carefree) and slide-outs are disabled while traveling down the road. I don't see the concern in throwing the breaker to forestall an awning coming out while traveling down the road. Can you elaborate more on your conversation with Don at CS. Is this a Girard concern primarily?

Thanks!!

Clayton,
On our 2017 Aspire the Girards seem to be locked out when the ignition is on. Shortly after delivery I tried to see if I could get them to extend with the key on and they would not. Will check again later today to verify. Not sure if the Cornerstone will be wired the same way, but sure seems like that would be a good way to do it.

Hope all is well at RB,
Rob

Chuck, our 2013 Aspire with the Carefree awning had a solid state sensor and it was very sensitive and reactive to any lifting motion of the header. It even had a low/med/high sensitivity switch over the door. IMO it worked well and reliably. The Girards on our 2017 Aspire have a similar solid state sensor, not the weighted mechanical contacts of previous models, but we haven't used them enough yet to say if it is as effective as the Carefree.

Same here, my 17 won't let them come out with ignition on. In that same breath they won't let them come in either

Rob, don't trust the new Girards to work that well. I have had my front awning blow up like a balloon and still not retract. I now have the remote sitting on the table whenever the awning is out. Maybe they have improved the new models, I sure hope so.

Hi Rob, It was not with our Cornerstone that we had the awning go out while traveling it was with the Anthem. It had all the safety features and lockout systems that they all have, yet extended while we were traveling. Fortunately their was no damage, but scared me into making sure their is no power to the motors while traveling. River Bend is fairly busy yet not full. Looking forward to seeing you guys this spring.
