Awning Center Bar

I've tried to research this issue (on these forums) but I'm still a bit unclear. I believe my problem is a rope or cord in the middle piece (contrary to what Entegra said, but no worries).

So... 2018 Aspire, Girard - Rear Awning. There is a scissor mechanism to extend the awning and, at the knuckles (where they bend in the middle) there is a bar that extends the length of the awning. This bar should remain centered, although it has to move. Mine shifts forward.

Entegra suggested there was some sort of clamp but I gather this is incorrect. It sounds like there is a rope (and spring??) mechanism to manage this. When I slide the bar forward 3-4 black strings (not rope) hang out. I gather this is a diagnostic symptom.

There are posts on tape, acquiring rope and tying knots but I don't (yet) understand the fundamental mechanism. Can Girard help with that information... is there a book or manual (or customer service)? Of course, any help here is appreciated but if it's already documented...

Thank you in advance for any help.

I've had that situation, ordered the string kit from Girard, and repaired it myself by following the instructions that Girard had. Attached are the PDFs. The price list is from 2016 but it will give you a reference. I tried to attach the complete repair manual but at 3.54 MB it exceeds the 3 MB limit for attachments.
