Axle Weights on 44B Anthem

With all of the comments on the Newmar forum regarding front axle overloading and some other recent posts concerning Newmar CS I am rethinking my thought of purchasing the DS4369.

However, before jumping out of the frying pan into the fire I am curious how the Anthem will stack up in this regard. Full fuel, full water, two people in the coach and a reasonable cargo load. The Anthem has the front axle rated at 17K so has anyone had their front axles weighed and would they like to share the results.

Really appreciate any feedback. Seriously considering ordering something in Jan and while the Entegra looks like it will cost an additional 30K over the DS I am starting to feel that there is much more bang for the buck.

Just wished they had something close to the DS 4369 floorplan and would do away with the funky paint scheme, but will to put up with these compromises if the coach is safer to drive.

Regards and Thanks in Advance for any info.

Jim

I have what you need. We have a 2015 Anthem 44B and had the coach weighed this year at the Spartan Factory in Michigan. Here's the data:
Front Axle: 16740--Left Side: 8620; Right Side: 8120
Drive Axle: 15410--Left Side: 7370; Right Side: 8040
Tag Axle: 10190--Left Side: 4980; Right Side: 5210
Hope this helps

Not sure what Spartan suggested to you when they were done, but.....
Maybe a "Basement Sale" and Weight watchers is in order
Your rig is MAXED-OUT

Those numbers don't look to bad to me. Spartan request you have a full tank of fuel and will weight you with those who are traveling with you. Of course I don't know if the fuel was full or how many were aboard perhaps they can share that.
Those numbers look better than mine, they told me to remove the rock collection. They should have a big pile of rock by now up there.😁

With all the axle weight concerns/problems across the industry, I could not help myself...........I like the rock collection comment
When on a cross-country trip on the Harley, the wife decided when we reached the west coast, she want to start collecting cool rocks that she found in our travels I finally had to put my foot down when the rear air shocks blew

There was a recent thread regarding weights, but I don't know how to copy and paste threads ... so might want to do a search on it. Here is what I posted on it. 2015 Anthem

Unless I've missed it somewhere I haven't seen any examples of axle weights for the 16 model year. I did see one post in another thread that Entegra weighs with full fuel and water with two people upfront and you should have 1075 pounds remaining on the front axle with nothing in the basement. That seems reasonable.

I'm sure the coach drives great with an axle close to max gross weight, but that unfortunately is not the issue. I think the issue is how the coach will behave when there is a tire blow out while that steer axle is at or above max gross weight.

Based on previous experience with Tiffin power glide chassis I think Spartan carries too much weight on the tag which also puts more weight on the steer axle. They put adjustable proportional valves on the power glide chassis and set them for 6-7000 load which took about 800 lbs off the steer axle. It does add weight to the drive axle, but that is usually not even close to maxed out. I don't put much stock in what Spartan says about taking some weight off the steer axle affects the steering. The Powerglide was probably the best driving chassis, with the possible exception of the K3, that I've driven and I couldn't tell any handling difference when they put the adjustable proportional valves on. It's has always been my understanding the tag should carry 35-50% of the drive axle not 65-70% that these weights show. Noel
