Back up camera on rear TV

I recently replied to a post by "Finally" in which he stated that in his 42RBQ he learned you can view the rear outside camera on the TV in the bedroom.

I responded to the thread but didn't get any replies. I have a 44 DLQ on order and feel that the convenience to view behind the coach while parked and in bed was a great anti-theft feature. I asked my dealer and they had never heard about it, I asked others and they said that it is NOT the case. However, everyone thought it is a great idea.

Can someone tell me if this is true or a myth?

Sounds like a waste of money. Who's watching the other 3 sides of your RV?
Simpler to install portable wireless motion detectors that activate lights or an alarm to frighten intruders away OR travel with a dog with good hearing.

It depends on the camera and it's control circuits.. Some of them only get power when the ignition is on.

So, here is how you do it.

First you need to feed it power, You can modify the power feed up front if you like, that will do it.. Or you can install a second feed with a switch (use an "A/V" type switch this is a 3-pole switch designed to switch Right channel audio (Red Jack use this one for power) Left channel audio (White jack: Audio if the camera is so equipped) and Video (yellow jacks)

Note: if the camera does NOT have audio.. You can use a lower cost Stereo speaker switch, Just put video on one side and power on the other.

ON my RV there is also a side viewing camera, This camera is mounted under the fuel filler (Gasser) and feeds Video B on the rear view monitor.. I pull up beside a gas pump (Switching to B as I approach) and when the pump is centered on the screen.. I'm set to re-fuel.

You can also switch that one around as needed using the same methods.

And I have a nose cam on the rig too (Dash cam save its outside in front) This one feeds a DVR and the television "network". Input 2

Trose,

Yes, its true. It is nice to be able to see behind you if needed. In my rig, I tuned my TV to aux and I get there rear view camera. No, the ignition is not on nor did I do any cabling. I was just playing around with the remote setting and round the rear view camera. Its a nice feature. The dealer would not know all the details of your rig, they didn't in my rig.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can get the answer until you check out yours. They have used a few variations of wiring on the front radio and monitor. And now it looks like the 2015 may have a different dash radio. My 2011 was not able to do this but my early 2014 is. The current wiring diagrams say it will not. My 2014 has a 3 wire composite cable running from the front radio to the back tv. It is there for running the radio to the rear home theater. The prints say that it should be a 2 wire. Using the third wire for the video from camera video is how it will work. there is no control to change views or anything.

Our King Aire has a monitor in the bedroom. It uses the rear camera and dedicated side cameras that are mounted high mid-ship and pointed forward......just another one of the MANY things you get for that extra $150k

How do you use that when your asleep. Sounds like a waste of $150,000. I guess it does make some sleep better though.

I just talked with the Entegra factory an this convenience is under consideration.

A high dollar bicycle of mine, which was locked in place was stolen from my towed. The dog barked, I looked out the windows but everything look fine....couldn't see my towed!

That would make sense. I would probably sleep though it anyhow, but the DW wouldn't

Honestly.....that system is worthless, they mount the monitor on the wall opposite the bed. I just take take of my little buddies with me should problems arise.

Yeah Tom it's an Armalite AR-50. No Pelican for us this year, we are trying to get things done around the property before we head north. Come see us.

Thought it was an Armalite. Had one for a few years. We are heading toward Entegra and Spartan toward the end of April. Will you be north by then?
