Banging in passenger side wheel well

We are on the road and thought we had blown a tire but all checked out well. Happened again a few miles down the road and we think it might be the rigid "mud flap" behind the steps in the front passenger tire well? Maybe a spacer has come out allowing for the vibration in the flap as we were just on edge of highway rumble strip when it's happened. Any ideas?

I had the same failure on my 2014. My shield already was cracked. I did a quick fix but it came loose so I went to a plastic place and bought a replacement. When I secured the new one I used several more screws of a larger diameter. It was a PITA but I couldn't directly pin it on the factory so I did it myself for about $30.

Thanks Dave. Took a few stops to figure out what was happening and finally found when it tore through two screws. My DH is thinking large washers would also work well to keep it from happening again. We'll see if this piece is salvageable when we get home. Good news is I got to practice my emergency pull over technique while doing 70 down the freeway!
