Doug,

Just looked at my battery compartment and you are so right, that top tray has very little clearance with a battery that is 10.8" tall. I do not think you will get anything much taller than that in there without some extensive modifications.

Why Entegra could not take the time to put the top tray in such a position as to give the same clearance with the top tray as the bottom tray is beyond me.

Yeah exactly not much extra room up there, I am considering buying 1 bringing it back to the coach to do a real time test. DW spoke to Interstate batteries and got the pricing and AMP hours and their least expensive at approx. $85 vs the next up at $140 ish was only 15 AMP hours difference. Can't get over the thought for the huge price diff with plenty AMP hours I could replace at least 3 times to 1. Do I love the idea of the water refill and monitoring vs not or course not, but all my other rigs had to be watched and maintained, just another thing on the things to maintain list. The deal breaker will be fit or no fit...

Jose67, Looks good. Pretty impressive battery for $350.
"CAP @20-Hr Rate 420.00 Ah."

I think "ya done" real good 840A total and if needed you can easily check water level and keep clean. I changed to AGM's when I got my Aspire and wanted the L 16's but would have had to modify my tray as the footprint was not quite large enough w/o modifying the tray size. Height was good. I settled for a little over a 600 Ah rate bank.

For other Aspire owners that might be interested, how did you modify your tray size if you did?

I removed the old battery tray and built a battery rack out off 2" X 2" angle. Used 4 "D"-Ring tie downs and 2 ratchet straps to complete the build. It took me 4 hours to complete the build. The build included removing the under capacity batteries, rack, washing the area, cutting and welding the new rack, installing the rack, batteries and ratchet straps, making the new battery jumpers and installation. The new rack has space around the batteries to cool and not rub together. On a D.I.Y. scale of 0 to 10 it was a 8.

Next step is to install a Magnum Energy "ME-BMK" to monitor AMP/HR and S.O.C. %. (For those who don't know what this is, think of it as a fuel level gauge.)

A very nice installation of the new batteries and the installation of a battery monitor is very prudent.
