Hope this helps someone prepare for the day when key fob or actual key will not open your bay doors. It
will happen someday. Latches fail.
These pics are for a TriMark latch...but applies to all.
Remove cover and locate an attaching point to secure a cable to. Most latches have several point so that they can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
Make your cable...I use soft fishing leader wire and ferrules.
Leave the loop down below the gasket line and tape to the door so it is not hanging loose.
Test operation.
Now
when the latch fails you can reach up behind the edge of the door with needle nose pliers, pull down and the door will open.
Absolutely something you should apply to the utility bay door....ready to leave and can't disconnect. Took off with full tanks...won't open at dump station. Can't open to fill water.
You might want to do this on any door that you don't want to have to empty and crawl through, or any bay that does not have through access... some Aquahot cabinets.
I know that most of you guys have new coaches but I have had even new replacement latches break...they are only cast pot metal.
