Belt tension
Anyone know how to loosen a tensioner? Seems like it is tightening after the belt was installed. 200 miles it was ok, pre-trip check and it looks tight. It only needs to be a tad looser. Tried the ratchet to move it but looks like is barely touching when running.
I wander now if the replacement belt loosens up a bit after install.

Good evening Shawn, the tensioner has a pre-set belt load built into it by a spring .......as you might know, the square 1/2" indent in the tensioner front is for a 1/2" breaker bar........insert it and then force the tensioner spring with the breaker bar to the point where the belt can be removed. There is no adjustment to them.
I am not sure what to say about your photo where the belt seems to be hitting that mount..........and it looks like what it is hitting can't be adjusted or moved a bit??
Do you have a bigger photo of where it is rubbing and what that bolted on mount is?

Looks like the belt is routed wrong. Is that an ISL? http://rvchassisparts.visonerv.com/m.../M120297.1.jpg

I am wondering if the tensioner is not holding the belt tight enough and at some specific RPM the belt is flexing enough to hit that mount thus the groove/mark in the backside of the belt??

Do you have a picture that shows a little lower profile of the belt tensioner........the top of the tensioner can be seen in the bottom of your photo.........his belt is rubbing down further by the motor mount.........Do you have a photo of yours down towards the motor mount so we can see how close your belt is?
Shawn: Look at the belt routing and make sure the the belt is on all the pulleys correctly......

Shawn, confirmed, your belt is routed incorrectly. Because it is routed incorrectly, it makes it "too long" for the configuration, which means that even at correct tension, the tensioner is pushing the belt to the point where it is hitting the mount. I just looked, mine is an inch away.
If you look at royals picture (which has the correct routing), you can see the belt goes over the top of the tensioner, then around the water pump, then around the alternator. Yours goes to the alternator first, then the water pump. If you look close, the belt is still turning those appliances the correct direction (thank goodness), but not taking a full wrap, so not as much traction.
Edit: Don't know how long it has been that way, but I wouldn't drive it any further. Damage could ensue.
