I typically just use water. The grey tank causes some problems though. I use the treatment in that and it helps but I just changed all the air admittance valves and after testing, one of them was bad. I think that's going to resolve the issue.

I mainly just use a lot of water. If I know the MH may sit for a while I put Happy Camper in the tanks. Black and gray They do need to be fairly full to do this. After emptying I will add water and HC. It does the trick.

Happy camper in both gray and black tanks with periodic flushing of the black tank works for us.

We use a mix of Calgon beads, pinesol, and water with a long drive to clean out the tanks. Then just water after that. PM me if you want the exact formula.

One scoop of powder tide soap and lots of water since 2005. No problems with smell etc.

I started using chemicals because I was told I was supposed to when I bought my first RV. Many years and RVs later , talking to an experienced full timer, I was told I was wasting money on chemicals, all that was needed is plenty of water. RV tanks are just temporary holding tanks, totally different from a septic tanks, so no need for enzymes, bacteria, etc. It is a closed system except for the vent on the roof, so if you have odors any where besides the roof, there is an issue in the plumbing/tank system. I have not used chemicals for 10 years or more, the last 6 years full time.

We've been using Happy Camper. Not sure if it's necessary or not...

Well said! A lot of people don't understand the concept of a holding tank.

Happy Camper also.... like with many things, started using it years ago and have never had a problem, so I keep using it.
