Will you be taking different measures to prevent a repeat performance? Would a separate maintainer be a viable option?

That is true. Turn the inverters off and leave one charge on while storing on 15 amp. I store on 20 amp and have been doing those setting for 18 years. With the extra 5 amps I can still run the refrigerator and a dehumidifier. Every now and then I get a power interruption, but with the inverters turned off, there is no effect on the batteries being discharged.

That was my initial setup -- both inverters off, charger 2 off, and charger 1 on.

But I'd return to the coach and find that the Vegatouch had either turned off charger 1, or turned on charger 2, or both had turned off, with the end result that the coach wasn't charging and the batteries eventually discharging. After troubleshooting for months, I found the remedy was to kill the power to the 2nd leg, turning off the 2nd inverter/charger at the source so the VT can't meddle with it. Charger 1, refrig and 1/2 of the coach still operate

I hear that. I have had both chargers be on at times when going up to the MH, but never both shut off. With both being on was never a problem as the batteries were fully charged when it happened. I can see if it were the opposite with both being off that it would cause major battery problems. Good fix bypassing the VT and manually shutting off the inverter.

The 445 Amp Hour Rolls-Surrette L16 you're referring to is a flooded-cell battery. Not really viable in the Entegra motorhomes that come with L16 batteries.

The issue is that Entegra chose to mount the L16's in an enclosed compartment, center of the coach side-to-side, just behind the sliding-tray basement storage compartments and just forward of the holding tanks and wet bay compartments. The compartment housing the L16 batteries has virtually no "head room" which would make it all but impossible to maintain flooded cell batteries. Hence the need/requirement for sealed/zero-maintenance AGM's.

As noted in a previous post, Rolls Surrette does offer an AGM L16, but it costs considerably more than $375.

Indeed, AGMís are considerably more costly than FLAís. Yet, in my opinion, they have all the same negative attributes of FLAís at twice the price.

I would probably replace the L16 FLAís with the same, for solar storage. Charging is maintained via grid power and solar panels, making a deep discharge unlikely. For the coach, not an Entegra, I opted to install lithium.

Used Lifeline AGMs in my boat. All 5 of them lasted over 11 years. May have gone longer but the ocean is a different beast.

Just an FYI....could not find Fullriver or Lifeline batteries in stock anywhere in Central/South Florida, plenty available west of the rockies, but they all wanted $250-500 in freight to ship to Florida. I found the Rolls Surette L-16 AGM batteries out of a distributor in Miami Fl., for $1330 for two, freight and sales tax included. Here is the contact info for them in case you need batteries TODAY.....shipped same day.

The blockade of containers on ships must be getting all of those batteries.... sure hope they get that figured out soon.

Oh, and something has changed.... this past summer I got my FullRivers sent to me on a pallet for the sale price.

L16 have been in short supply in FL all summer. Now that the Snowbird are arriving, it will even be harder. I contracted my wholesale supplier I have been using for years in Ft. Myers and even he was having problems getting inventory.

Timely Post, we are still using our original batteries in our Anthem since May of 2016. They can still maintain sufficient charge to make it overnight but. Know the day is coming for new batteries. Hopefully next year, tires all the way around this year.

A few years ago on a similar post, I observed with the price of good L16's (then at 800) and the falling price of lithium, I would wait.

The waiting is over. I just bought a 100 ah 12v lithium battery for $359!
Gonna do some testing, the get 3 more.

Brand is ECO WORTHY, on Amazon with quick free shipping

That would be $1,436. to equal the ah of one L16 battery. Nothing wrong with lithium if a person has the need for them.

The 100Ah lithium battery is 12V. The L16ís are 6V.

It will take 2, L16ís to get the stated Ahís at 12V.

It is also recommended by manufacturers of AGM/FLA batteries to avoid discharging below 50% SOC and to always fully recharge the battery. For those who follow those recommendations, the battery will provide half of the stated rating.

In other words, 2, 100Ah 12v lithium batteries could provide the same amount of energy as 2, 400Ah 6V batteries.
