Blind Spot Sensors

Our 21 Anthem is at NIRVC in Nashville for miscellaneous work on our trip from Michigan back to Alabama.

One of the items being looked at is the blind spot warning system. The system has been inop for over a year and thought it was time to fix the flashing mirror and dash warning lights.

They found 3 of the sensors to be shorted out due to water intrusion. 1 hour of labor each just to diagnose so already $1,200 plus just to find the problem. Was not really concerned until I got the price for the 3 new sensors. Over $1,500 each!!! Just for the sensor. Still have to pay additional labor to install.

I sure have not missed it not working and at that price, I will probably just pull the fuse.

Has anyone had these priced before? Anyone found them from a source that is more reasonably priced?

Thanks for your input.

Fellow fuse puller here also. They did not work on my 18 and they don't on the 21. I don't miss it, but it would be a novel idea to have themoperable, since I paid for them......

Thanks for supporting my choice to buy something older!

Situation like this is really disappointing. This is poor design, installation quality, and bad parts support rolled up into one. There should not have been water intrusion, the parts are installed outside and should be able to handle water and salt etc., and you know there is no way the parts cost the OEM builder that much.

I began looking for a diesel coach last year. Most of the new stuff really disappointed me for value and build quality. I ended up getting my 2008 Nimbus. Definitely not perfect but I have no problem dealing with mechanical wear and tear and other age-related issues. My side and rearview cameras still work.

I learned a long time ago, much worse on on the new electronics in coaches, that MH manufacture build lousy boats. There is noway all of the exposed electronic connections can be of marine quality without an Aspire costing over $100,000,00. Price a 45 foot boat with the feature of a MH and you will see why.
Simplest and most economical, when it rains hard, park it. If rain is in your travel path, stay put. Take your changes and sooner or later a water caused repair bill will be in your future.

Now I may be wrong, but I believe Entegra issued a service bulletin on this issue associated with water intrusion.

From what I remember, they resealed the docking lights, rear of the connectors, and made a drip loop on the cables. When I received the noticed I asked for the details and performed my own service on all docking lights. No water yet.

Now if they could just get some good docking lights that don’t cloud up like the headlights I’d be happy…..

The mother ship did that repair on my Anthem. 3 months later, I pulled the fuse

I had a similar experience. My Blind Spot Monitor System was working fine when this Technical Service Bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...60158-9999.pdf was issued. A couple of months later, at my AIR, Entegra completed the TSB. It was about 6 weeks after the TSB was completed that I started getting the flashing indicator lights. I had a conversation with Entegra and was directed to take my coach to an Entegra authorized service facility for repair. This was after my coach was out of warranty. However, since the failure was less than 90 days after Entegra had completed the TSB, the repair was completed at no charge to me. The Blind Spot Monitor System has worked for more than four years sincce that repair.

Take care,
Stu

Several months after I purchased my cornerstone, the same thing happened. I just pulled the fuse as I had no confidence on the fix. It supposedly had be "redesigned" for 21, but....

Thanks Stu, I knew there was something related to the blind spot monitors that I received from Entegra. Since I’ve done the TSB I have not had a problem.

My blind spot sensors still work. But they give too many false alarms.

I look twice and close when they are active but active does not mean we can not change lanes.

Yeah, Hal, that the problem with a warning system that gives false warnings. One soon begins to disregard the warnings...

Check your mirrors.

Take care,
Stu
