Telus , is the largest carrier in Alberta and BC.
Once your on the the Alcan north of Hinton AB , or Prince George BC, coverage out side of major centers is spotty to say the least .
Check with your current provider to see what , coverage agreements they have with Canadian carriers, and price options they have , then look on the Telus site for a coverage map.

We use Verizon Mi-Fi when driving the Alaskan Highway. Don't have coverage 100% of the time but do have connectivity most of the time every day.

If you are going to do anything other than texting in Canada buy the Canadian add on to keep the costs down.

Roaming charges will kill you! Keep your phone off unless you are dialing someone. Oh, Does anyone still use a phone as a, well, phone???

Last summer when traveling thru that area I upgraded our Verizon to unlimited, this included Canadian coverage, after a few hundred mb was throttled down and useless when using data.

We are off the network allot on our trips in BC and WA. We have a weBoost but it can't boost zero signal. After our son tested a knife on his knuckle (no long term damage) we needed to find the closest hospital but there was no network. After this we bought an Iridium Go with a prepaid card that expires after 2 years

We didn't laugh at the time but we do now...."Santa" gave him the knife. When he was getting stitched up he asked....What was Santa thinking?
