Broke Another One!

I have an older 2012 Aspire which has/had the small crank out vent window by the passenger seat. On the way home at 65mph the piece that adheres to the vent window failed and the window went into flail mode and within seconds it swung up and shattered the large pane. This is the third time this piece has failed in the almost 5 years that I have owned it. This morning I put an end to that nonsense!

You did the right thing. The upright widows they had so many problem with, they later made those solid pane as well.

We never opened it anyway...and the original wheel and linkage make a fine storage area for hanging USB cords and sunglasses!

I should have….a dab of silicone would have been a lot less pricey than that entire window assembly!

What failed? The adhesive?
We’re careful about how “tight” we close those awning windows. I’ve repaired both bathrooms and the passenger one due to separation, but have not seen a failure of the adhesive.

In my case, the adhesive that glues the aluminum track to the glass let go...the glue remained on the aluminum but left the glass cleanly. This was the first of three windows to fail and I tried all the excellent suggestions here to repair it. Nothing worked for more than a few days until I permanently sealed it shut.
My 1/2 bath window was next, followed by the bedroom vanity window. I repaired both with JB weld and so far,so good

Same here…channel separated from glass. I purchased new lower window the first time it failed, tried commercial epoxy (failed) the second time and the last time I scuffed the glass and used aerospace grade epoxy and it failed. We only tighten that window very gently..never crank down on it.

Did you purchase the replacement from Entegra? If so what was the part number?

I ordered it from my local RV dealer…they used the following Jayco part #. It is a “Lippert” window

It is not a complicated job. The inner trim is reused and I used this to seal the window to the outer wall….

Thank you for all the information. I am in the process of replacing my window but have been told there is a 6+ week lead time. Did you encounter that type of delay?

I was told 2 weeks and that was about what it took to get to me…no extended delay.

It took me about 4 weeks to get the lower part directly from Entegra last year.
Later...
