The front speakers are above the windshield. Poor location, the sound is partially blocked. It is obvious that Entegra did not give too much priority to this sound system.

I bet I could spend half the money and get a better sound with better bass using the 6X9 rather than a 6" even though, you are right, the 6" is a better speaker. We all have cars that the manufacturers have spent hundred thousands of dollars on getting all 10 or 12 or 20 speakers in just the best locations. None of those cars have oval speakers because is not optimal. I think the 6x9, as long as it doesn't get overworked, gives you better bass performance and does it cheaply.
It's all just my opinion, but I don't think "Hi fidelity" and the audio systems in virtually every motorhome should ever be spoken in the same sentence. Speaker location and environment is everything and motorhomes are just not conducive. I have a lot of money audio equipment in the stix n brix and I do enjoy "Tull" turned way up but I enjoy it just as much in the motorhome, it's not as loud nor as clear but the view is better!!

Well...I come from a rather significant working background in "car stereo" so understand people who would rather go boom boom than have good sound quality... but good sound and deep clean bass is available to be had in coaches of all sizes depending on budget. At the low end of the spectrum...you have to make tradeoffs.
If I were advising you for the music YOU like...those JBL's should be converted to 6" COAX round JBL's and a self powered sub woofer could be added on a space available basis elsewhere in the coach. A Bazooka 8" 50 watt powered bass tube for about $150 bucks would have the coach rockin and you'd never go back to the dark side!
Bazooka BTA850FH 50-watt powered 8" Bass Tubes enclosure® with included factory radio connection kit at Crutchfield.com
10x10x19" space required. May be hidden from sight.....
As for the non headbangers ...my advice was meant for moderate sound levels and a range of music on a limited budget that simply involved replacing the OEM paper products with the best sound in the 100 buck range.

Is 50W enough to be meaningful in a big RV?
No space for a Bazooka but how about one of these? Which one would you think would give best sound?

LOL. All in all it's just another brick (speaker) in the wall.

As to your wattage question. First...everyone lies. Unless you are getting a CEA wattage quote...assume it is meaningless in practical terms and NOT comparable to another mfrs. wattage claim.
Having said that...YES 50 monaural REAL watts to a vented enclosure speaker like the Bazooka & others is definitely enough to get a real impact in a coach. Ironically, you need more wattage in the small compact units that can't use a cablinet & vent to develope more power & bass.
Of course..one can always notice a difference on the SMACK with more...and if you're building comparable power audio system for your surround system THEN you might consider a more powerful sub. Otherwise it is a waste of money as it will either need to be turned down or will overwhelm the other speakers.

Thanks Cam. I was going to go with the Kicker for its higher power, but I will take your suggestions into consideration. I don't want a rock music "boombox" effect, just solid bass for oldies, country, and classical music.

Someone commented on the low quality speakers in a high end MH.
In my Damon.. I ahve a 150 Watt stereo amplifier mounted on the side wall under the dash (Factory mounted) The Pioneer in-dash feeds it and it feeds the self same speakers the Pioneer home theater uses.. Via a relay.
And for like 2 years that system was very iffy.... I finally found the plug that had not been properly plugged in.. And when I pushed it in and heard the SNAP of the molex connecter latching in place.. JOY WAS MINE (well Ode to Joy).
