Check Engine Warning

Hi Everyone,

First I must confess that as an owner of a 2015 Anthem I haven't closely followed the DEF head issues the past few years. From what I had seen this seemed to impact "post-classic" models.

Today on our way toward Glacier/Banff we received a check engine warning about 15 miles east of Fargo, ND. We pulled off and called Spartan who indicated SPN 4364 FMI 18 was "selected catalytic reduction" and SPN 4094 FMI 31 was "nox sensor limit exceeded". They suggested we contact Cummins.

We've been waiting for almost 4 hours for a callback from the Fargo Cummins location after talking to their answering service.

We are trying to determine if we should proceed west tomorrow or wait until hearing back from Cummins? Our Cummins options are limited to Billings, MT and Calgary once we leave Fargo.

We were able to make the 15 mile drive from when the warning started to the TA truck stop without any issues. Other than the dash warning, the engine seemed to operate normally.

I'd really appreciate any feedback anyone is willing to share. Are we asking for trouble by proceeding westward, or can we proceed and then attempt to schedule service in Calgary not on a holiday weekend?

Thanks for the input, Paul.

Paul, we had a similar NOX code regarding high drift a few years ago. 2014 Aspire.
After talking to a Cummins service manager, we rolled the dice and drove from Camp Verde to Flagstaff. Stuck halfway up I-17 was not a good spot. I didn’t like our choices; ask for a tow or…..
After diagnosis, they installed a new ECM that sits on top of the engine.
Hopefully, they call you back soon.

Anytime there is an Emission warning, derate can follow at anytime. What the derate mileage is per code seems to be a well kept secret.
