Check your spare belts for PROPER fit!

This happened to me today. Hope you don't go through what I did.

My NAPA store "SAID" they cross referenced the Goodyear 90871-12005 listed on the A/C belt on the Cummins engine. I broke a belt this morning and my spare belt was 2 inches to short........ A very LONG 5 hour story short.

Six parts stores and NONE of them cross reference the Goodyear number, even the NAPA store here. It's a manufactures # from what I was told. Thankfully I called Spartan for any other part # before my crazy day. The second # they gave me was a DAYCO 17475. None of the 5 parts stores had it, special order!!! Cross reference Gates 9476, the sixth store finally had one.

What a nightmare, CHECK your spare belt before you need it. If you don't have a spare belt......it's going to be a very long day if you need one... hope you are in a large town, they are not easy to find.

Well interesting you brought this up because I was just sitting here at this very moment ordering spare filters and belts to throw in the basement. I was looking at your post on the parts #'s that is listed as a sticky on the forum. I could not find the Goodyear AC belt when I made my order, but now that you posted this I did find DAYCO 17475. Is this the correct part for the AC belt?

And thanks for the original thread on all these part #'s. It did help me get properly equipped before hitting the road again.

Sid, the Goodyear # is a manufactures number only. If anybody was given a belt using the number, it probably doesn't fit.

The Dayco # is a good number as is the cross reference Gates # which is the one I installed. The Dayco # was given to me by Spartan.

Great!! Might want to edit the sticky with all the parts info. That's what I was using to order everything.

Thanks again [emoji106]

I purchased a new belt, put it on , and saved the old one for a spare.
That way I know they both fit.
Hopefully the new belt will hold up and I will never have to change on the road.

I will see if I can get a Mod to edit the original post after I get finished with the A/C problems.
