Cleaning slide topper housing?

Has anyone discovered a method for cleaning the housing for your slide toppers? Somehow pine straw has a way of finding it's way half out the little water drainage channel. Anyone?

Pat, Put it on a different thread...there is a silver set screw at the top of the topper;each end .. It backs out to release the topper cover down and you can clean then with hose, broom or both. The guy at Eagle RV said you should do it every so often, particularly if you've closed when pine needles or leaves have been dropping. Also dust collects in there that then runs down the side, making your clean coach streaky.

Note, there is a plastic rim seal that slides on the cover that you may have to push back for the cover to completely release.

On my slide toppers there is also a catch in the middle "front to rear" of the topper. It's on the outside of the topper in the slot between bottom and top. Put a screw driver in the slot and slide the catch back to release.
