Clear sediment filter housing
Has anyone replaced their sediment filter bottom screw-on part of the housing with a clear one so you can see how dirty the filter is??
Thanks
Van

I have not. My only concern would be any exposure to light will promote algae growth.

I bought a 2 pack of filter canisters, and the carbon filter came with the clear housing. I see no reason you could not - assume your filter is in the basement, and doors and lights off most of the time, and water running often enough - I think may do the same thing on the others. I've been surprised how clean the filers have been when changing them, at least where we have been when hooking up to water.

Are you referring to the primary fuel filter OR coach water filter?
What brand/model filter do you have?

Like Brett .... I am confused on what filter you are discussing. I believe you are t6alking about the clear bottom section of your fuel filter. If my assumption is correct, then yes, I buy replacement fuel filters and they usually come in without the clear bottom sediment bowl. They do come with a new rubber gasket to use when putting the old clear filter back onto the new fuel filter.
Very easy to do and never been a problem.

Thought it was the water filters?? I believe I bought the dual unit at "The Water Filter Store" on line, (2 connected together, and the 2nd was the carbon filter with a clear canister)
My classic had the single filter that did not filter all water, so I bought a dual canister filter and installed it so that all water was filtered coming into the coach. Thought the OP was asking about a Clear canister to see if the water filters were dirty.

I read it the same way. Only fuel filter with a clear bowl is the water separator to see water in the fuel, but you cannot see the filter. The would leave the clear canister to see the water filter, which would be handy.

Installed clear canisters from day one so that I could see the filters and how they were performing. I’ve also installed a pressure gauge, inline, to determine if/when they were beginning to clog.
You can find them on eBay if your looking to change them out.

Clear
I got clear since day 1. Not so much to see the filters as I remove them after a trip and clearing the low point drains. I just cannot see letting them sit in the bay half full. I take them out, dry them out and re-install on next trip. I really wanted clear so I could see how the water system is performing. Let's say the pump didn't shut off I wanted to make sure all was well by making sure the housings were full.
Just the way I do things.

I am looking to use the existing top part of the water sediment filter and not add additional filters. Davidceder, were you able to get a replacement bottom that screwed into the existing filter case top??
Thanks
Van

Very simple item to order since all it is is a 10” filter canister housing. Order a single filter canister,
https://www.amazon.com/Hydronix-HF3-...0978376&sr=8-2
Remove the solid housing that holds the filter, put a filter in the clear housing and then just screw it back into the original base.
Couldn’t be easier……
