Coax cable not terminated

I have a 2014 cornerstone, I recently discovered 3 coax cables in the storage area near the inverters , these cables are marked with color tape, a yellow, green and black tape. Does anyone know what these are for?

most likely they are unused leads from the roof satellite .when we did the satellite(we had the factory travler and installed a inmotion dome also) install on our new cornerstone we ended up using several of these unused wires

I agree on the roof satellite being the most likely reason. I looked carefully into the type of roof satellite we wanted and was told that an Entegra is built with at least three runs of coax which would accomodate either Dish or Direct. Those extra coax runs are in the basement zip tied to the chassis frame .. We had the in-motion taken off the coach (our dealer had told us it would come-in with "all USA options" (which obviously included the Winegard Trav'ler satellite but when it arrived, it was equipped with the in-motion, which was a deal-breaker until it was resolved)), and doing the changeover, the coax issue came up yet again.

I am finding, by the way, that the training of Direct-TV service reps (phone reps) must now include a module on what a "motorhome" is for all their reps, as most of them even 6 months ago assumed a motorhome was a mobile home, and they now seem to understand why a "motorhome" might be in Ashville on Monday and Greensboro on Wednesday which most failed to comprehend in the past.... (Maybe my 45 minute tirades with Direct reps on these issues was recorded and incorporated into new in-service training modules!)

Your coach is set up with coax for both an in-motion dome and the Trav'ler. We have the DirecTV SWM version Trav'ler and there are those three extra cables for a dome in our basement as well. There are also two more from the Trav'ler that are only used for DISH or Shaw network dishes.

If there is a place designed for a Sat Receiver look in that area for coax cables with the same color codes.

I am trying to install a separate receiver in the bay for the outside TV to operate independently from the main TV. I have the three extra cables and I also had the factory provide a separate sat TV cable along side the outside TV. A receiver will not fit there. I have modified the TV to a pull out swivel mount. If anyone has any ideas I would welcome them as I am electronically challenged!!! It has to be done before Gary Jones gets to Beaver Stadium for the Penn State football game!

I've wondered about why a jack was there for a receiver. If I wanted one there for a tailgate party I'd add an extension cable and set it on a table next to the coach during the game.

Attached is a schematic. That coax should have green tape on it if 2016 is anything like what your coach is.

Cruzer,
Do you have a similar schematic for the in-motion dome system?

No, I do not. Those cables are down there but I'm not sure of the labeling. Those cables are tucked up on the roof under a vent cap and sealed up. There is colored tape on the ends to identify them but you don't want to remove the cap unless you are ready to install a dome due to all the sealant and foam. The dome most likely has two cables from the dual LNB so it probably doesn't matter which is which. It's probably just a matter of separating them down below from the Trav'ler cables.

Thanks Cruzer. I have Winegard in-motion dome installed but have developed lost signal issues. Will work through it....

By the way, I love your Avatar; Beautiful creature. I lost my girl several years ago and have not had the heart to get another German Shepard. She was a tri-color which yours appears to be in the photo. I have other dogs but not another German Shepard.

You mean there are other dogs besides German Shepherds?

It is my understanding that the in-motion sat dish does not receive High Definition signals. I think that it is with Direct TV. Since your main TVs are high definition, I cant imagine settling for standard definition from the dish. We converted our in-motion antenna on our previous Dynasty to the Winegard Trav'ler. Because of the superiority of the Trav'ler to the in-motion, we would not drive our Anthem off the dealer lot until it was changed. It is a great, superior antenna.

DirecTV broadcasts SD programming on the legacy KU band but their HD feeds are sent over the newer KA band, which has certain advantages to someone like DirecTV who needs to send a lot of channels to subscribers.

Unfortunately, none of the dome type dishes can receive KA band feeds so you can't get DirecTV HD programming on any dome. DISH network uses KU band for everything but with a dome there are switching issues between multiple satellites when changing channels and they are limited in how many channels they can pass.

An oval shaped open dish with multiple LNBs, su7ch as the Trav'ler, can handle DirecTV's SD and HD feeds. The DISH version also eliminates the satellite switching when changing channels because it can see both satellites at the same time, unlike with a dome.

The biggest problem with the dome is the size constraint of the smaller dish inside the dome's cover. Your signal strength depends on the size of the dish, which collects the various signal rays and focusses them on the LNB on the end of the arm. Larger dishes punch through clouds and rain fade much better than smaller dishes. Couple that with the refraction of the signal from dew and condensation on top of the dome and any dome type dish is handicapped from the get-go.

I had a dual setup on our last coach for a while. Kingdome in-motion as well as an external HD dish. After viewing the HD feed from a larger dish I did miss the HD programming when on the dome but the biggest kicker was that I didn't want to put up with the rain fade issue from the dome any more. So, when it came time for me to install my Trav'ler I decided against a dual dish system and eliminated the Kingdome and just went with the Trav'ler (as well as an external dish feed).

Another issue was that the HD and SD feeds were on different channel numbers so I had to switch my channel guide favorites listing whenever I switched between the SD dome and HD feeds. That, plus redo the setup to define the dish as round dual LNB with the dome and oval 5 LNB with the Trav'ler.
