Collision Mitigation system
Howdy all,
I'm interested in getting a collision mitigation system installed into my 2021 Anthem. Entegra basically tells me to pound sand and the installation requirements are beyond the ability of my local Entegra dealer. Any thoughts on where I might go to find someone with the ability to properly retrofit this system in my coach? I know, after chatting with the manufacturer of the 'On-Guard' system that Entegra is now installing, that it requires a bit of new wiring, programing the controller and interfacing with the transmission and the brake system. This is WAAAAAYYY beyond my DIY skill set. Thank you for insights and thoughts.

In my opinion Entegra is correct to refuse to provide what you need to retrofit collision mitigation. From a liability perspective the risk to Entegra is just too great. Consider asking a car dealership to retrofit collision mitigation to a car, they would undoubtedly tell you NO as well and then try to sell you a new car that has collision mitigation.

Unless you already have one but want more, why don't you install one of the stand-alone collision/lane monitoring alarms. The audio in mine is more than enough to provide that extra protection. I don't feel the need for it to slam on the brakes as well.

I would like to do this to my 18 Anthem as well. I see they offer a retro kit for semi trucks. I would start there, I posted the link. I believe the anthems have some of the stuff on them already, like the side cameras. If you figure anything out please post.

My brother in law has been driving semi tractors for FedEx about 20 years and another 15 years for Conway.
My step son has been driving long haul, regional, and local semi tractors for about 25 years.
They have all sorts of horror stories about collision avoidance systems. False or unnecessary alerts and warnings as well as unexpected braking when not needed.

I have the Factory installed on on the Cornerstone. It is basically worthless, alerts you as you pass every guard rail. I would hate to spend the money on an after market system and be as worthless as the factory system.
Just me, but they day I cannot drive with the mirrors and cameras, I'll turn in the keys.

I had the vorad adaptive cruise control on my 05 Navigator. It was really nice to not have to turn the cruise control on and off. I miss not having it on the anthem.

Note ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and Collision Mitigation are two different things.
believe ACC can be turned off, Collision Mitigation cannot be turned off.

For 8 years in our '14 Anthem we had the "collision avoidance system" with the eye in the windshield. It was very annoying. After we had the windshield replaced, we could not get it recalibrated because the company had discontinued support for that model. It was basically obsolete when it was installed at the Entegra factory. I just cut the wires to shut it down. After that we found that the best "collision avoidance system" was sitting in the passenger seat. However, it was just as annoying at times.
Good luck.

True that
I like the ACC that is a plus. Collision Mitigation not so much

The best collision mitigation system is too put the phone down and pay attention too what you are supposed to be doing. Mainly driving.

I assumed Collision mitigation was the same as adaptive cruise control?

My 2016 Chevy Malibu has a simple collision mitigation system. It consists of a very annoying beeping sound and heads up flashing red lights reflected on the windshield. The red lights are bright enough the be plainly visible during the day in bright sunlight. The Malibu does not have ACC.
