Consignment with NIRVC?
Anyone have experience with consignment at NIRVC Atlanta who are willing to share the good, the bad, and the ugly?
Pros and cons?
Advantages and disadvantages.
Surprises?
Anyone to avoid working with?
PM okay if you don’t want to go public.

Thanks for the post Jerry. I would be interested also. It's getting to be that time for us.

Consignment with NIRVC?
I’ve sold 2 through NIRVC and when the time comes we will do it again! The only potential downside is value or “perceived” value. Do you think it is worth what they think it is worth? They will price it anywhere you want it but they sell so many, they know what it will sell for. If you guys agree on that price, then I’ve found it sells pretty quickly. Popular units like a ‘B’ also helps. At least in Atlanta, they keep all the consigned coaches inside and plugged in. I’ve always found them to be respectful and make sure the lights are off and doors are closed. You will make more money selling it privately but that comes with more complications than I’m prepared to deal with.

I have sold on consignment at NIRVC. They showed me what all like coaches were priced at on the Internet and dealers lots and suggested we price just barely below them for a quick sale. I agreed, they cleaned it, staged it and had a professional take pictures all in a couple of days. Listed it and sold it the next day to a couple who had tentatively made an offer on another coach but wanted to buy from NIRVC because of reputation and service. Worked great for me. Yes it was likely less that I could have gotten private treaty BUT that presents a whole other set of hazards, problems and chores that I did not want. Plus they have many more opportunities to make a sale than I would have and offer buyers a full range of services that I never could. Bottom line I was very pleased and will not hesitate to go do the same again when I sell this coach that I also bought from them on a totally different transaction. They are very open, honest and above board and actively market your coach as if they own it. Couple that with the fact that their salespeople get a flat amount for every unit they sell so they have incentive to sell your coach before some one else does and I think it makes the best situation for selling a coach on the market. Good post and good info Gene - thanks for your insights!
Amy & I have done private-party sales of our four previous motorhomes. No real issues, and in two of the four cases we became lasting friends with the buyers. So while I would be inclined to go that way again, you make some very good points about the advantages of doing a consignment sale through NIRVC.
I find it useful to, every so often, re-examine any "that's the way I've always done it" opinions I may hold (yep, we all have them). Your post helped me do that - thank you!

We consigned twice with NIRVC. Both were easy and quick.
In one case we became friends with the new buyers. In the other not so much but NIRVC handled the myriad of issues that the new buyer was raising and asked us to "lay low"
That alone would make me use them again (If we ever had another MH to sell!!)

Emerson, Brett & his able crew can set you up with another one on short notice. Come on back in - the water's fine!

A related option that NIRVC offers is that they will handle the transaction (for a fee) if you find your own buyer. Financing, registration and other admin which you and your buyer might not be comfortable handling on your own. And, I think that if you're buying from them as well, they can show your sale as a trade if that helps tax wise.

Yep, that's what we did when we sold our Tiffin Allegro Bus and bought the Entegra.
It's referred to it as an "in & out" sale. NIRVC takes possession of the coach on paper then sells it to the new owners the same day, for the price you and the buyers have agreed to.
There is a fee for the service but it's very reasonable in the whole scheme of things.

This is what we just did last month. This "In and Out Service" is clearly a great way to handle this with a high value coach. On our 2017 Newmar DS 4369, they made a market value offer, that we were able to private sale for $50K more. We could have probably obtained more if I had realized how few there were on the market. I had received 10 requests within a week all at asking price. In the end, I was happy for the extra money above the trade-in offer!

I think that 7.5% is a little steep for consignment. That is what they want at the Las Vegas store plus $600 up front to wash and prepare your RV for sale. rmd

When it comes to NIRVC they do everything fair and above board. I can tell you that as of right now, they can't keep RV's on the lot. They sell quickly. When I last spoke with them they had next to nothing on the lot. So if now is the time for you, NIRVC will surely sell it for you.

I recently consigned and sold a motorhome with NIRVC in Lewisville. It was a top-notch experience. You will get calls from salespeople with offers and there will be some back and forth. Know what range your coach is selling for (as much as you can) and don't take a low-ball offer. I was very impressed with the way they handled it.
Now if only my new coach would arrive, I'd be a happy camper!
