Crestron app with Vegatouch

I know the app is 100 dollars, and while I think that this is a bit questionable considering the price of the MH, I would go ahead and pay it for the conveinence. Now here is where I get a bit concerned... If I want the app on say my iPad and also on my iPhone i am being told I have to pay 100 bucks for each.

Has anyone loaded the app on two devices? Did you have to pay twice?

Other then that, right now the dealer is having a bit of an issue getting the Vega to play nice with the AV. They are getting a new SW update that will hopefully correct the issue.

Thanks for any info on the app. I hope the info I got was not correct.

Jim, the app should be available on all Apple devices using the same Apple ID. I have it on 2 iPhones now (paid once) although I've not set the wife's up. Firefly allows me to set up 3 iPads and 3 iPhones. You will have to assign each device a separate port number. I have a small black firefly control box in my AV storage that has a sticker with all the info you will need to set up multiple devices.

Software from Crestron has two versions. 1 for iPad and 1 for iPhone. Used the same software on a home Crestron setup and $100 for each.

Usually an iPhone app will run just fine on an iPad (but not vice versa). You may find that the iPhone version runs fine on both with only one purchase, although the iPad version may have more features or functionality.

I am interested in this because we are picking up our new coach on Monday, and I want the app on both my iPhone and iPad. Good luck and let us know how the software update goes.

Each device using the Crestron app must be on the Vegatouch Wifi network to work with the system, but the Vegatouch Wifi network does not have a connection to the outside world. So, if you use another Wifi network in your coach to get to the internet, you will be switching back and forth between networks whenever you want to use the Crestron app. Admittedly, it's fairly easy to change wifi networks on an iPhone, but to do so just to turn one light on or close one shade is a pain. Of course, going to the wall monitor is always an option.

I use David Bott's Ubiquiti wifi setup so I have a stable, always on coach wifi network. At a campground I lock the network to the campground wifi access point if it's usable or to my hotspot if it's not. All my devices are on the coach wifi except one dedicated iPad for the Vegatouch system that always stays on the Vegatouch network.

As preciously pointed out by Glenn (Great-Escape.us) the biggest problem with the AV equipment working properly is the IR emitters (in many cases) are not affixed in the right place on the component so signals sent are not received. In my case the emitter on the main Bose receiver was 4" from the IR receiver on the front of the unit. No software update will fix that.

Hank and Kelly,

The update worked well. AV settings now work with DTV and make that more painless. One thing I will say is that the AV integration is a work in progress and having to manage multiple controllers to turn on a TV show is a PITA. I am still very unhappy about the need to pay to get IPAD or IPhone connectivity. It is not the 100 bucks it is more the principle. My feeling is that in addition to the wall mounted PAD they should have included a portable tablet.

Including a "free" copy of the app would make sense and would allow everyone to pick the tablet or smart phone of their choice for their second control device. The wall monitor is the equivalent of the previously supplied iPad, except running more robust, intuitive and user friendly Vegatouch software.

I can't seem to get my Android tablet working. Error message that host and port values appear to be invalid. I have a call into Firefly.

All working now. Firefly sent me a corrected set of instructions. I had been looking at the wrong ports and password.

I may need to have my iPad on which i have a working version of the app reset. If i do the apple store told me i will have to reinstall the app. EC told me i had to rebuy the app and they could not give me any help on replacing the app. In fact, EC was a bit nasty and said it was my fault and i should not have needed to get the iPad reset. Nonetheless, any information on where i can get a replacement app?

i sent firefly an email with my problem and they called back in about an hour. They are going to help me get a replacement. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! EC used to be that way. Hopefully the EC rep was having a bad day.

My guess is that is why Entegra doesn't supply the software. Way too many variables to troubleshoot. Hardware and software can be a real nightmare! If they didn't supply it, they don't have to worry about it!
