Cummins NW
Anyone have anything to say about Cummins NW in Spokane. They're a Coach Care facility. I need to have a wheel bearing looked at, and I'm debating whether or not to have them do some "house" stuff as well.

The "coach care" is the custom chassis. I don't think you will get much satisfaction out of them for "house" items. You might consider these folks: Ray's Truck Service - Home. May not be a s pricy as Cummins.

Only a little help on this issue. With my prior coach, I got an engine warning light related to the transmission out in Oregon, and I needed to talk to someone competent quickly. I called them on the phone and was able to talk directly to their transmission specialist, who was nice and very helpful. He talked to me a long time on the phone. They were the transmission specialists for the area. Very helpful.
On a different slant.... I have had very good experiences at an official Cummins CoachCare location. The one I patronized was Cummins CoachCare Southern Plains in Houston. They took my coach when they said they would, they worked on it quickly, they let the DW and me stay on the coach at night when not being worked on (during the week only), and they had the coach plugged into 50A the whole time it was in their facility, whether outside or inside. I had a radiator replaced, and soon after I left the facility I had another engine fault associated with the exhaust, and they very graciously let me return and put me right back into the repair bay to try to resolve that problem. My coach is now in a non-Cummins facility with the same engine exhaust problem and I find that they are nowhere close to as prompt or responsive as CoachCare. My coach is now being worked on between dump trucks, firetruck, and school buses, and is being worked on very slowly and episodically. I am very frustrated! If you are in a Cummins shop, then Cummins owns the shop, and has a lot invested in working closely with the shop to resolve problems and get you back on the road. Cummins engineers working directly with Cummins techs. Others may have more to say about NW specifically, BUT, I am very impressed with the CoachCare concept in general.
Oh, if you are paying out of your pocket, they are not cheap, but......

But, do they do work above the chassis? I think this is what the OP is looking for along with the other work.

Yes,
Officially, they say that they are able to do any service on a motorhome from working on refrigerators (Norcolds, for example) to engines. If you look at their website (Cummins CoachCare), you will see that they have techs there that are coach certified bumper to bumper.
And, I thought the OP was talking about a wheel bearing issue, which is certainly within their bailiwick....

Stew, Cummins NW did a nice job of diagnosing and replacing the radiator in my Anthem. They are Spartan authorized. I don't think they will do any Entegra warranty work. The best place for that would be Beaver Coach.

Stew, we had some "house" stuff done at Cummins Power South in Atlanta. Although I cannot speak for the particular facility you are referencing, it was my impression that the Coach Care Facility meant they can do any and all above the frame work, and obviously everything below. The facility I went to was more than happy to do warranty work for Entegra. In fact, Entegra coordinated most of the work for me
Hope this helps, Brian

Spokane NW Cummins
Did work on our Anthem; Tim took care of use the best he could. Delay was through ENTEGRA and Spartan for parts. I would use them again if in the area and need required. They did a complete engine change out for friends that broke down.

Thanks. I didn't know that they had expanded to actual body and living area work. Good to know. Back to the OP: " I'm debating whether or not to have them do some "house" stuff as well. " And that is what sparked my question.
How is the hourly rate compared to RV dealers? I have been charged as much as $140/hr and had to have the work done again by the Winnebago factory.

A month ago at CoachCare in Houston, the rate varies by type of vehicle. My memory was that the hourly rate for coaches was either 130 or 140 / hour, the highest rate. Fortunately, my service was warranty work and covered by Spartam/Cummins
I would check with them about specific work needed a priori

Stew....if you can go to Bend, OR, I recommend Beaver Coach Sales....they're an EC dealer and perhaps the BEST repair shop in the Pacific NW.

I do know I'd stay as far away as possible from the Portland shop. They broke an interior door, a pair of FSD shocks and lost my engine belts. So far it comes up to about $800 and they refused to pay for it so going to have to end up in small claims court. But getting the DW's cancer treatment started comes first!
