Cummins Safety Recall

I noticed an item in the mail (today)that is a safety recall from Cummins. We are on the road and I cannot open. Any one know what it is about?

Go to Cummins Website and input your engine serial number.

I found it. Looks like a recall on the L9 and IXS-12. Has to do with fuel rails and a possibility of a fuel leak.

ISX-12 not IXS-12 (I believe)

It says to periodically check the fuel rails. Anyone have pictures of how we do that? Is it possible from the rear hatch?

You will be able to see the rail from the back hatch. And especially if it is leaking. It could be a very fine mist since the rail is under tremendous pressure and under no circumstances put your hand close to a spray to “feel for it”.

Most likely the first thing you will notice is the smell of diesel fuel or seeing a leak under the engine.

Cummins states that you’re less than 1% of experiencing this issue.

The rail is on the top left in this picture. It is basically a rod that feeds the injectors under very high pressure. I am guessing between 40 to 60,000 psi.

Seems Cummins has finally determined a fix for this fuel rail.

Safety Campaign #C2423.
Anyone know a good Cummins shop in the Nashville area? Lots to choose from just thought folks here might know of a good shop that at least focuses on motorcoaches.
Thanks
Jeff
