Dash A/C issues

We have a 2018 Entegra Anthem, and have has continual problems with the dash A/C working properly. I had a recall done on the Cummins, and had that shop check the dash A/C. I was told there is a leak in the high pressure hose at the crimp on the A/C hose as it comes off the A/C compressor. I was told the fix is to change out that high pressure line, which (I'm told) is about 60' long. I was thinking the hose could be cut, and recrimped, instead of replacing the whole hose. Is that a possibility? If not, has anyone had that hose replaced, and if so, what was the approximate cost? Thanks in advance, David

It's a common issue, many owners have dealt with it. Had my Cornerstone fixed. Yes the hose can be cut and another flange crimped on.

However, an ongoing hypothesis is that the hose that is used to get from the compressor (rear) to the dash area is cheap hose and contributes to the loss of refrigerant. There is another LONG thread up here right now that goes through a lot of those issues and should be read by the OP from the start to the finish of that thread. Look for it.

This has been a constant problem for many owners. I have given up on my '19 and will spend no more money trying to get this system working. I will try the new self contained front unit if NIRVC ever gives it their blessing, but until that time I:

1.) try to avoid using the bus and traveling in the heat of the summer, and
2.) if I have to, running the Genny and roof AC units instead of trying to keep the dash AC function operational.

Vintage Air [specializes in new AC components for vintage vehicles] has a new connector system for AC hoses. Replaces the old, crimped connectors with 0-rings and compression bands--pretty cool! Had recurring issues with my 2003 DP--hi-pressure hose connection at compressor kept failing. Downside is you have to replace the hose from front to back but it did solve the problem.

Dash A/C issues

Im dealing with the same cracked fitting at compressor, however at least on mine the rubber hoses are only around 8 ft long and down at the frame they connect to insulated hard tubing that runs to the front. So i was able to remove the hose and found a local supply house that is making a duplicate hose for me for less than $100. It would be worth a look to see if yours is same.

I have seen post were others have paid as high as $2,500 per hose having good hoses made and strung through the frame like factory. Lots of posts regarding the "fix-it-again" AC's Here is the one Gary referred to. On my 21 I am on my 3rd repair. NIRVC did the hose cut and new fitting crimped on. Then a pressure switch. was replace at Entegra. Sitting over the winter, the system is empty of R134 again.

As you will see at the end of the attached post, I am going to learn the gauges, just to see what is going on with the AC system, nice video attached towards the end from a truck mechanic. If it is coolant seeping through to hoses after sitting for a long period of time, I will add the coolant annually and let it go at that. It's a fairly easy job to add refrigerant once a year.

Put my rig in the I had a recrimp on the compressor then a new hose run from the compressor to the front of coach, I would need to go back through to documentation from the PO that had it done, but lasted me 1.5 years then far as I can tell leaked out again.

Brobox study up....I will be in your area next winter and could use some assistance to figure it out and not have to buy any equipment myself. I always figure I can do crappy job myself vs paying a lot of money to hire a "professional" to do a crappy job.

on thing i purchased is nylog for any fitting that are removed if the system is opened.

the goodyear hose is about $5-6 a ft , good year was used at the factory and as a replacement in my coach, googling it says it good stuff.
$2500 is about what the PO paid to have new hose run on my rig, routing could have been better, when i open up my panel above the fresh water tank ,its run thru there and IMO on the wrong side of the vent pipe, old hose is still in the somewhere.

From what has been explained to me by Cruzer....the factory lines installed by Spartan weep very slowly. IE not the best quality hose for a long AC run. Once the compressor fitting is changed, easy to do, is it worth changing or adding a new hoses. I think not.
If the hose is leaking bad enough, it will not hold a charge, then I would reroute a hose to take it's place, but that would be a last draw method.
