Dash A/C Not Working

I have a 2012 Aspire and the dash a/c is not blowing cold air. We have tried to put Freon in but it is full. The compressor is not coming on, could this be a fuse and if so where is the fuse located. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

How did you test freon was full? The only reliable way to test is with dual gauge manifold to measure high and low pressures. Your A/C has a low pressure shut off, some also have a high pressure switch also. You'll have to check that the dash control is sending signal to compressor by checking either side of each sensor. In addition, many A/C not blowing cold issues are from the heat valve staying on and countering the A/C. You can also use a jumper wire to the compressor wire to see if the clutch is engaging.

If you look at your compressor at the rear of your motor it will be on the upper left front on motor you will see the clutch, is it turning or only the belt? If only belt the clutch is not engaging and not cooling. On top of the compressor are electrical connections, be sure they have not vibrated loose. If you open your generator slide in front and look strait up dead center you will see a label that tells you the amount of freon you should hold. This also the location for freon charging, if you evacuate the freon system and you are able to extract 2 1/2 pounds it was fully charged. Not a lot of freon, but not a big system. You also have two switches one is a standard pressure switch and a binary switch that you will need to ohm. If this isn't enough you also have a connection behind the dash gauges that is the hot wire for your clutch. That is a wire that has clutch wire printed on the wire not a tag, I have seen one were the connection was so loose that they needed to be crimped and all worked well. You can call enter a, they are familiar or the manufacturer Evans.

Good luck

Thanks guys, great info but way above my expertise. I am headed to the factory for warranty check in May will have them check it out. Hope it is not too hot on the way.

I can tell you from personal experence never, ever use one of thoes recharge units from the auto parts store. I used one, with the guage that came with it. Needless to say the $25 for the recharge and the $250 for a replacment check valve that blew out because the can over charged my compressor cost me far more than the $25 A/C checkup from the dealer and the 1 LB of freon they said it probably needed. Apparently when the check valve blows out from over pressure it's a one time deal and has to be replaced.

If it is to hot, just run the front roof air. We travel that way 80% of the time. We are looking forward to having the auto gen start for that reason. No more jumping up and down to turn the roof A/C on and then off to cool the generator down.

The in-line fluid control for the dash air (at least on a 2013) is electronic, not mechanical as they used to be. It can fail. Mine did. Get a qualified technician to check that out.
